Gimme a break! This was as politically biased a statement one could make. Were this a right-leaning Republican-nominated person, the Democrats would have questioned their associations with right-leaning groups.
Leahy's not just shamefully playing the race card here, but he's absolutely lying about the reason Sotomayer was questioned over her associations with the group.
The only reason his comment should make you pause, is to slap your forehead in disbelief at the spin this guy is making against the Republicans.
Purely political. Go back to W's nominees and other Republican nominees ... go back to Thomas and see what trash they threw at him and other nominees that dropped out of consideration because of what Democrats questioned.

Not discounting anythingyou have said, I had to pause because I am convinced it is not wrong to be a part of an organization whose missio0n is to ultimately help people.
That is how it strikes me.
However, I have heard people say that "La Raza" and the "NACCP" are not the same, as in the "NAACP" is very moderate and the "La Raza" is not.
However, this is purely hearsay, and I am not real sure that Sotomayer was/is closely with either of the organizations.
Would it be wrong to be a member of an organization whose mission was to help other people? I am not talking about helping some
by causing death and destruction to others.
