IB: Endtime part of Great Commission? Sold out?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSayc...m/Default.aspx
In this wonderfully produced video IB tells subscribers that endtime prophecy (of course his version) is part of the Great Commission for one last endtime revival.
Having listened to and read some of his past work I can't see how saying 2 billion people will die w/o offering the New Birth message is GOOD NEWS or fulfilling the Great Commission.
It has been said that IB holds a traditional 3-step OP view of salvation ... but we also know that many, if not most, of his Christian listeners do not.
To his credit he then offers a DVD package for discipleship "EndTime University" in this video .... in which he clearly states "avoids controversial issues" .... just teaching the staples of Christian life. What does that mean?
Has IB watered down the Apostolic message to promote his ministry to a wider audience? Is endtime prophecy part of his or His Great Commission? Is this type of thing the cons and the WPF worried about with advertising on TV?
Is avoiding controversial issues the proverbial SLIPPERY SLOPE?
How does one reconcile teaching apocalyptic news without offering a solution that will save?
What say ye?

I wonder how many subscribers know he's post-trib?

Avoiding controversial issues often entails just teaching the truth without comparison. For example, simply teaching that Jesus is God and the truths behind that truth without comparing to or even mentioning the Trinity would be teaching the truth without controversy.

I say I wish you would get off his case. Is this the 10th thread you have started in opposition to his ministry? Do you have to agree 100% with every man's ministry? Do you try and tear down all ministries you don't agree with are just his?
I give him credit for trying to do what he feels his is calling to do. He is doing some things I don't agree with, but I do believe he is trying to reach the world.

I'm not speaking for Dan A. here Esther, God knows he can do a good enough job for himself, but IF this is true, and IB is just encouraging folks to preach a belief in Jesus without explaining the widely held Apostolic view of salvation thru repentance, baptism in Jesus' name and the infilling of the HG, how then would IB differ from TD Jakes, Joel Osteen, and a host of others who are continually criticized on this forum?
I mean, what good is reaching millions, if you don't reach them with the whole truth?

I have not listened to his program in a good while. But I have heard him give the truth with a called specifically asked him what he believes. As I understand it his goal is to make folks aware Jesus is coming soon and to be ready.
He also tells them he has "free" literature he will mail to them giving them more information about what he believes to be the salvation plan.

None of this free literature is on his website that reaches millions.
This would be perhaps the 3rd thread started, at most. Maybe second.
The questions I believe are legitimate based on his own widely published positions.
Michael, makes a very good argument for why this is fair game.

I still think telling people Jesus coming soon is his message ... but NOT HOW TO BE READY.

I would hate to think that such a good man of God could be watering down the Acts 2:38 message to either attract a crowd or material gain !!
