President Bush's Pardons

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081124/...h/bush_pardons

Bush pardons 14 and commutes 2 prison sentences

The new round of White House pardons are Bush's first since March and come less than two months before he will end his presidency. The crimes committed by those on the list also include offenses involving hazardous waste, food stamps, and the theft of government property.

Bush has been stingy during his time in office about handing out such reprieves.

I wholeheartedly agree. That would probably be the first Presidential pardon I would stand up and applaud.

I agree about the the border patol guys, too. They are reporting that the there is a good possiblity that the Pres. will pardon our former Gov. Edwin Edwards in the next few weeks. EE has 4 more years to serve- he is 81 years old.

Say what you want, but W although very unpopular is leaving with some class. He does not want to transition with the same kind of cloud of controversy that existed as Clinton was preparing for civilian life.

DB, I said this on another thread and I'll say it again. I'm not sure who all he will pardon before it's all said and done, but I do feel like the nature of these bailouts and the lack of accountability and clear direction for the billions they have already given out smells like the financial equivalent of some of the past questionable legal pardons. I'm not saying that some action is not necessary, but the way some of this has been handled at the end of the Presidency is very troubling to me.

To me, if hedoes not pardon those agents its the last straw.

First election I fully supported him.
Approval rating 99%

Second term I voted for him for two reasons only. The war, and to keep Kerry out.
Approval rating 50%

Currently,
Approval rating 20%

If he does not pardon those two BP agents,
Approval rating 0
