Emergency contraception (EC), or emergency postcoital contraception, refers to contraceptive measures that, if taken after intercourse, may prevent pregnancy.
Forms of EC include:
Emergency contraceptive pills (ECPs)—sometimes simply referred to as emergency contraceptives (ECs) or the "morning-after pill"—are drugs that act both to prevent ovulation or fertilization and possibly post-fertilization implantation of a blastocyst (embryo). ECPs are distinct from medical abortion methods that act after implantation.[1]
Intrauterine devices (IUDs)—usually used as a primary contraception method, but sometimes used as emergency contraception.
As its name implies, EC is intended for occasional use, when primary means of contraception fail. Since EC methods act before implantation, they are medically and legally considered forms of contraception. Some scientists believe that EC may possibly act after fertilization (see Mechanism of action).
Some religious conservatives consider EC to be an abortifacient.
Re: Morning After Pill? Sin? Abortion? Contracepti
The morning after pill may either prevent a pregnancy or it may keep a fertilized egg from implanting, which is the real issue. The question is, is a fertilized egg a baby before it implants? Some say since the life is in the blood that it is not. I frankly don't know.

The life of the flesh is the blood.
When God gives the inner man is what would decide when an abortion becomes murder because death is a separation of the spirit from the body.

You may be right. And if you are, I fear for many of us, because the birth control pill sometimes does the same thing. I was on the pill for three years and no one ever told me this.

Other basic assumptions ....
- It can take up to 6 day for these gametes to meet and for the egg to fertilize.
- It takes up to 6 -10 days for this fertilized egg to completely implant itself in the lining of the uterus ... hence have a viable setting to grow healthily ...

So are you saying that this zygote and the proceeding early stages is not a really alive as to qualify the act to be murder ... or in other words not until it has a human soul and this when the baby has a circulatory system?
When does this happen in the life of the embryo and/or fetus, Mizpeh?

Both gametes do not contain blood nor does the initial zygote have a circulatory system ... (am I wrong on this?)
There are different types of contraception. Some keep a fertilized egg from implantation just like the emergency contraception pill (which is different from RU486.)
