Last night was an awesome night as a young man I pastor invited me to "How Sweet The Sound" A Verizon Wireless Experience at the Phillips Arena in downtown Atlanta.
It is a national choir competition with the final competition on Nov. 8 here in ATL and the grand prize is $50,000 and lots of stuff!
Last night - Donald Lawrence was the MC and sang the place crazy!
Judges were Marvin Sapp, Hezekiah Walker, and Coco Brother Cory Condrey!
There was 4 small choirs and 4 large choirs.
Atlanta West Pentecostal Church Choir (UPC) under the direction of Brandon Frazier shook that PLACE! It was so incredible as they sang and shouted and danced and praised GOD! I mean they absolutely TORE IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw a lot of people there that I knew in my UPC days.
I was so proud of them as they really were very positive and did an awesome job.
THE AWPC choir won the VCAST Award as they got more votes than any other choir and got a check for $5000 for that. Then they won for BEST LARGE CHOIR and got a check for $10,000 for that and every member of the choir got a new DARE PHONE BY VERIZON and I think $50 on the phone.
You can read all about it at
www.Howsweetthesound.com .
The national GRAND FINALE will be here in Atlanta on November 8 and I hope AWPC will win it. If you have an opportunity to go to the competition in your city - it is only $5 - 7 a ticket. I would have gladly paid $50 for a ticket last night.
This competition is coming to Newark, Detroit, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Chicago, Memphis, Houston, Oakland, LA and then back in Atlanta on 11/8.
Go and enjoy the music!
Great downloads on this site.
AWPC was a great witness of what Nice, Kind, Sweet PENTECOSTALS should be!
Oh yeah, Marvin Sapp said - I knew when I saw them UNITED PENTECOSTAL women with their hair up on their heads - that WE WERE ABOUT TO HAVE SOME CHURCH UP IN HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
