The Forum's Direction?
Since Keith's last thread I am feeling more and more this is becoming an ex-Pentecostal site? Maybe not as ugly and vicious as some but the tone is changing. This concerns me as to my participation here. I never posted on an ex forum and only visited a couple a few times and my cup was full. Not a lib or con thing but a Pentecostal or NOT Pentecostal thing it seems now? I must ponder and consider about my continued involvement.

Re: The Forum's Direction?
Just for the record the direction of this forum is not determined by a few threads or even a few posters.
It's as big as all of us and takes all of us to make it the diverse forum that we all have enjoyed.
I do hope you will continue being involved.

It seems to me that Keith is considering the issues in Pentecost that are culturally based and therefore subject to change........

I think Keith was pretty clear that he believes in the Biblical signs of Pentecost, but was questioning some of the cultural things.
However, I realize that some cannot separate the two - and that was not directed at you, Elder, I am being serious on this note.
To many folks, the standards we were raised with are not just associated WITH Pentecost - they ARE Pentecost.

Re: The Forum's Direction?
Standards have changed over the years.
Life insurance is an acceptable thing now in many churches.
Listening to the radio or reading a novel is now OK to many.
Having medical insurance coverage and going to a doctor is widely accepted.
Golf, softball, billiards, bowling, etc. have become accepted in some places.
Most ladies don't wear cotton stockings and some don't even wear stockings at all.
Does this mean we are compromising, or "leaving the old landmarks" or "going to hell in a handbasket"? I don't think so. We're just getting rid of some of those old "standards" that have not had any real meaning for years.

Re: The Forum's Direction?
Bro. Epley, I hope this doesn't sound impertinent... , but....
I don't feel that you are really threatened by those who disagree with you, and I know many of us have expressed appreciation for your presence and opinions, so it begs the question--(from me)--are any of your peers pressuring you to break ties with this forum, because of it's perceived liberal bent?
I know how talk among preachers can go on around a table after church, so I'm just wondering if that is part of your recent "second-guessing." ?????

Re: The Forum's Direction?
Things are changing in Pentecost.
The "worship team" has replaced the "song leader."
Overheads have replaced the song books.
Smaller podiums have replaced large pulpits.
Services are shorter and more to the point.
I'm 70 years old and some of these things have bothered me but actually, what Scripture do we have for either the older or newer methods? If we still worship the Lord, pray together and hear the Word of God, isn't that the stuff that counts?

Re: The Forum's Direction?
Elder Epley, even if this forum became strictly lib it would still not be the same without you here trying to steer us back to the right, this is no joke! Consider staying keeping the balance.
