Dear Friends and Supporters in Missions:
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
(
Mark 16:15) This is the mission we have been given and I am very excited to report that God has sent us help in this dry and thirsty land and the work here is growing. We are in revival and God is moving! God truly has His hand in Brazil and the fruit of many prayers and sacrifices are yielding great things in this country. I am so thankful that the Lord has called many men and women to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Brazil. Where would I be without the love, prayers, and sacrifice of those before me? Praise God for those who have obeyed the call.
Many amazing things have happened in Brazil since our last newsletter. Our mother church in Campinas, S.P. has been attacked with the devil but with God we are victorious! We have this precious sister in our church, Sister Sueli. She was possessed with many demons, like the story of legion in the Bible. A few weeks ago Sister Sueli was delivered after much prayer. After a weekend of praying, she finally was delivered on a Sunday night! All the demons were cast out of her and she is free! She is now ready to be baptized. God is moving in her family, her husband is already baptized and her son just repented last Sunday! Her sister, Sister Luzia, was afflicted with severe depression. One Thursday we visited her, prayed and anointed her home, and praise God that she was delivered that night. After, her face was shining bright with the love of God. What an awesome difference God makes in our lives!
We have been visiting one lady for 2 months. She could not walk for many years and was bedridden. But, we believed that God would give her legs strength to come to church! And praise God, she is walking now! Her daughter lives next to her and is always present when we pray. God is touching the daughter, she has come to church and we are believing in God to show that family the way.
Our young newly married missionary couple, Vinicius and Ana Paula, are doing very well in São Carlos. The church is growing and they have a good group ready to be baptized. They are also starting a work in the neighboring city of Ibaté. God is doing a great work there and is giving this couple strength to be used. They are living in a tiny room that is hardly livable. They live with rats and sleep on the floor. What a sacrifice they are giving. We are trying to raise money for them. We would like to finish their home and with $500 we could make their home livable. The church is almost finished, new pews were purchased and now they have lights. We are believing in God for revival in that area.
Pastor Joaquim and his family and church are doing very well in Casa Branca. They have already baptized several in that city and have opened three new house meetings. We are still working on the church building and their house. This church is the first church my mother built when she came to Brazil over 40 years ago so the building is very old and needs repairing. If you would like to help, please do so.
Pastor Zelindo took over the São Luiz church. After the pastor left I stepped in and became Pastor but pasturing 3 churches is hard work. What a blessing Pastor Zelindo has been and will be for that church. God is moving in São Luiz. Backsliders have come back and we believe God is going to send more revival. I want to send thanks to Brother and Sister Caleb Adams who helped us tremendously with the construction of the church and who came with their church to the dedication service.
We are getting ready for our 5th Southern District Ministers Conference in August. We are looking forward to that and believing God to give all of our awesome ministers encouragement and direction.
We are having revival here in Brazil and our young people in Campinas have grown. We have many new young people that are faithfully coming to church. God bless our young people, for they have a great commission in front of them! We have baptized at least 10 people in Campinas in the last couple months! One lady, whom we have been working with for quite some time, received the Holy Ghost in Novo Angulo. After the pastor of that church left, the people there were very hurt. It was a great trial but now the church is on fire! The services are powerful and people are receiving the Holy Ghost!
Finally, we moved into our home! We finished one bathroom, our master bedroom, Julia’s room and the living room. We want to thank all those who helped us with that. It was a trial but we made it through! In the future we want to fix up the kitchen, other bathroom, the office, and laundry room. But for now we are content until we can raise enough funds for the project.
If you would like to support any of those needs in this letter, please do so. If you send an offering please specify which project you intend the funds to go towards. If you would like to support any of our 6 bible school student, $75 a month would fully support one of them. We need all the help we can get. Would you pray with us, our monthly support has gone down a good amount and we are feeling the stings of that. Pray with us that God would move on people’s hearts that they would give. If more people would give that would save us from making so many trips to the states. Our church struggles when the pastor is gone for so long. And my heart is in Brazil, it is hard when I have to travel so much and be away from my burden in Brazil.
If anyone would like to only receive e-mailed copies of the newsletter that would help save us money on printing out and mailing hard copies. Please if you would like to help us in this email me at
rauljr26@uol.com.br with your name, mailing address, and e-mail address. Thank you all for your prayers and support. We appreciate it more than words can express!
Because of Calvary,
Rev. Raul Alvear Jr.
