Freedom of Speech in France and Muslims?

Is this the direction America is heading?
---------
Brigitte Bardot was convicted Tuesday of provoking discrimination and racial hatred for writing that Muslims are destroying France.

A Paris court also handed down a $23,325 fine against the former screen siren and animal rights campaigner. The court also ordered Bardot to pay $1,555 in damages to MRAP.

A leading French anti-racism group known as MRAP filed a lawsuit last year over a letter she sent to then-Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy. The remarks were published in her foundation's quarterly journal.

Bardot, 73, was referring to the Muslim feast of Aid el-Kebir, celebrated by slaughtering sheep

This was about BDs animal rights cause. But I found it interesting of what she was convicted of....

I think so with the emphasis on political correctness and the invention of something called "hate crimes."

Exactly...and one reason the Gay agenda is being pushed so hard.

I thought the same exact thing when I saw this news report the other day. It is amazing that in a Western Democracy someone could be convicted of expressing free speech in the simplest of terms.

Very George Orwellian. I do think it is the direction America is headed but we are still a long way from there. I think at some point liberal courts or legislators will overreach in this area and there will be a strong backlash.
