Missionaries
Why I write on the forum:
Some people have asked why I write on AFF and seldom write on other forums other than GNF sometimes.
At one time in my life I would not have even had a laptop let alone time to write on one. My life continues busy but my little laptop travels with me everywhere and I felt in prayer one day many months ago that the Lord wanted me to write on this forum.
Sometimes missionaries are misunderstood their burden is so intense for a people and a land so far away. Sometimes their letters are just seen as give me give me give me…letters.
I felt God wanted to give me this little ministry of helping you look inside the heart of a missionary. I have posted both defeats and victories, ups and downs. I have tried to be transparent and let you know we missionaries are just humans with many faults and failures.
I like to post pictures for you folks to catch a glimpse of missionary life so each of you can better understand your missionaries and see the burdens they carry.
In no way stop supporting the missionaries you support to send us their money…Please hold up the hands of those that are dearest your heart. From the deep jungles to the modern cities each missionary faces many of the same problems. We deal with a different culture a different language, a different mindset sometimes we deal with those who had rather us not ever been in their country.
Missionaries deal with the fact that many so called missionaries come to the field and leave a bad name, many come because of emotions, looking for a mate, many come because they are not happy in the states and nationals tend to group them all together. Many spend thousands of dollars getting set up on the field then return home for various reasons making it even harder for the real god called missionaries.
If your missionary friend is faithful to God and the call please lift up their hands in prayer. Write them a letter, send them an e mail. They need your encouragement. They need your prayers as they fight for souls in the devil’s strong domain.
Today we traveled over 4 hours from where we preached last night straight to a ladies meeting where I spoke and now we will be leaving for another service where Brother Alvear will preach.
We the Alvear family and extended church family appreciate you folks and we love you. Thank you for being missionary minded!

Well, something I was trying to get across is you cannot lump them all together!
I have heard lots of excuses from pastors why they don't support missionaries and it usually can be summed up as a bad experience, wasting a lot of money on someone that was not called or someone messed up on the field or whatever BUT for all those that did not make it remember there are true missionaries that deserve your help. many times they feel they are fighting a losing battle...away from home, friends and church...Lift up their hands through prayer.
Blessings to all you folks.

I don't know if I ever shared this with you, Mother, but I shall this evening...
Many years ago, I was a member of a church pastored by a very young Nathaniel Wilson.
Bro. Wilson had a heart for missions and made a declaration I had never heard before or since.
He announced to the church that South Flint Tabernacle was going to support EVERY missionary sponsored by the UPCI...EVERY one.
In preparation for this, he told me to go into the prayer room and draw an outline of each country represented, with the name written along side, and a framed picture of the misssionary and their family.
The prayer room circled around behind the platform with doors on each side, so it was (is) a fairly large room.
My godsister, JoAnn, helped me get it all in order...
When it was finished, he took a Sunday night service and had folks walk up on the platform with signs and banners of these countries, and he stressed the importance of not just our finacial support, but the prayer covering.
He said that our church and the members individually would be blessed by our support, and we were.
I don't think I will ever forget that time...it was glorious!!

I am so glad you were blessed, Mother A...
The dividends of giving, be it giving the Word, a gift, a hug or kind word, or simply sharing a story of faith, cannot be measured in this realm of existence.
Only eternity will tell the tale of those you have blessed, dear lady...may your reward be great!!

The Amazing Life of Jesus Christ (English): Jesus Christ is not merely an outstanding person who lived and died many years ago. According to the Scriptures, He is God the Creator, who lived on earth as a man so that He might give His life-blood to rescue sinful mankind from the power of sin and Satan and death. He is alive today and gives eternal life to all who come to Him.
Hope this is helpful. I use to distribute these alot (sent thousands to the Phillipines)
