UPC BOMBSHELL!!! Will '93 Affirmation be overturned??????

Did you know that there are rumblings of overturning the 1993 Affirmation statement in the future once the ultra cons leave ???????
Don't ask me where i heard it or who told me- not giving that info. but there has been talk of eventually overturning the AS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I told you all 4 years ago that a split was coming and many of you laughed and scoffed- well here it is and i'm the one laughing at the naysayers like CC and Painoman to name a few.

I just want to know what your opinions are. would this further destroy the UPC or help it ??

What would removing the affirmation change?

The only possible benefit would be to allow some who disagree with the Articles of Faith to avoid a bi-annual lie.

The damage is done - the young ministers are gone - and I doubt they're coming back if the affirmation dies.

On the bright side - the future of the UPC is not anywhere near as bleak as the new conservative organization's prospects. A handful of senior citizens starting a new denomination is as promising as planting watermelon seeds in the Sahara Desert.

Don't be mistaken- the new org. has a lot of younger men following.

as for the AS, i believe there are hopes of some that left to return to the mothership. those whose hearts never left. for some, yes, it's too late but don't think that there are some who have been courted and even personal apologies made to

A lot of younger men following is exactly the problem.

It is a movement led by senior citizens.

How many years does it take to create a strong fellowship, to iron out the wrinkles and grow through the pains of a new beginning?

Not to mention the division that will be inherent in the foundation of this new group. While one says "I follow M," another says "I follow W," and yet another says "I follow no man."

for the bolded part!

The benefit of removing the AF is that some may actually come back to the fold. These are the ones that chose not to lie about their agreement concerning TV and some standards.

They would have to submit an application to rejoin the denomination.

If they wouldn't sign an affirmation, why would they sign an application that makes the same commitments?

Why buy a ticket on a ship that's not going anywhere?

senior citizens?? don't forget that Haney is around 70 and many of our leaders are about the same age as the ones starting the new one.

I would actually rather have older leaders with wisdom and experience.

I do argree with your overall assessment about the other though

Could they sign "with exception" and a note stating their exception?

I don't think the UPCI ship is going nowhere. In fact, I think the purging will have a positive effect!
