Re: Tithing…Is it a command?

That is pretty much how I teach it. I do teach tithing from old testatment, but I simply teach it as a suggested place to start that can sometimes help us trust God into greater giving. I do realize that if people never catch hold of giving and living by faith they will miss out on many of the awesome things God could do in their lives.
Originalist posted how his pastor reprimanded him for not paying his tithes in his time of hardship and that to me seems horrible to do to someone. I have heard too many testimonies to think that people should let their situations make them ball up in a corner and quit, but I would never tell someone to give something sacrificially unless I had a specific word from God for them. I believe we can continue to give during hardships even tithe (if that is your conviction), but I will not tell them to because it is their faith that is important. If they give just to save face or please a man they are just depriving their family.

In a nutshell tithing is a good place to start but it is not some legal binding requirement you must do to be a part of the church. "I agree" with the arguments against the requirement of tithing, "but" if you are not careful your argument can sound like you are communicating giving sparingly. Giving is not a matter of law, but a matter of the heart.

Re: Tithing…Is it a command?

I do believe that believers should give generously to support the ministry. And they should give as they have purposed to give in their hearts, knowing that if they give sparingly they will reap sparingly... but if they give bountifully they will reap bountifully!

But there are times of unforeseen hardship. I do believe that if faced with paying the rent or house payment or giving what you've committed to give... your first loyalty is to our family. Because if you fail to provide for them, you've denied the faith and are worse than an infidel.

Re: Tithing…Is it a command?

When a spirit of rebellion comes on a man, it causes them to lose their mental faculties in discussion, and refuse to see truth. Folks, what we have here is exactly that, a spirit of rebellion. People who refuse to acknowledge the Bible, who refuse to give God the glory due Him, and refuse to love God enough to give Him the tithe. It is a spirit of rebellion that all the discussion in the world cannot budge their hearts from. Only God can deliver them.

The truth has been presented, and when men refuse to acknowledge truth, they do into strong delusion. I warn all, just as Paul did, to not follow their errors. Love God enough to give Him the tithe. Love Him enough to not just give Him what you want, but what he calls for. These men are of the error of the flesh, the mindset that God is NOT worthy of our money. They are, sad to say, blasphemous self idolaters, and to be kept away from.

My part of this discussion is over. You have received the Word, the truth, and if you choose to continue in the sin of witchcraft, so be it. You will not stand guiltless before the Throne. I pray you find repentance of your wickedness.

Wow. Thanks for the warning about rebelling against a false teaching. We are not anti-giving and for you to insinuate that we reject tithes because we don't love Jesus or because we've become disillusioned is the same old rhetoric that we've come to expect from some.

.
You are guilty of the very thing you accuse others of. You trample under foot the blood of Christ by cursing God's people whom Christ has redeemed from the curse of the Law.

He talks about delusion. Yet he does not see he is reacting the same way JW's do when confronted with scripture concerning the error of their doctrine. Since, in their minds. they are "right" from the get go, they have the luxury of being above scutiny and and it becomes sin to question their teachings. It's pure cultism. And in case some think they will find refuge in Trinitarian churches...BBBWWAAAHHAA...this same attitude rules there as well concerning tithing.

Sadly the majority of our pastors, both Trinity and Oneness, would not agree with you. They would say you are cursed if you do not tithe for any reason (even hardship) or that you are are already cursed else God would make a way for you to tithe. Either way you lose and will be shunned by your pastor.

I'm sick of all of this and so long to leave this corrupt system. I've tried to have the attitude of "well we do not have to agree on every point". Sadly, the bishops do NOT have the same attitude when it comes to the doctrine of tithing. They cannot "agree to disagree". To them you are a curse. My last pastor actually stated from the pulpit, "I don't like going to church with thieves". This man is a District Superintendent admired and adored my thousands. But how can I submit to a man who teaches such error? As soon as I get my wife on board, I'm out of there. She agrees with me and has also had a belly full. She cannot understand how we are expected to be involved in a bunch of extra curricular activities when we barely have enough gas to get to church twice a week and get to work everyday. When we try to explain it to people, they bury their heads in the sand and deny that we could really be struggling so. Our lack of involvement must mean we don't love God. Yet, my wife is afraid still to let go of the security blanket of organized church.
