study The New Testament Greek Lexicon on aphesis ... translated as forgiveness and remission ..

http://www.studylight.org/lex/grk/view.cgi?number=859

Why do you insist on using the English NT translations of two synonymous to fit your OT theology ... ???? Yes... in the Old testament there are separate concepts for forgiveness and the law of remission ... but you can't use it when faced with the word aphesis in the NT ... sorry ...

I'm not going to jigsaw the Word to fit my theology ... NOPE.

and I think Hebrews is clear on who does what ....

I realize the same word is used I have acknowledged that and I addressed it. However you and NO ONE else has ever addressed why there was forgiveness in the OT but no remission if they are identical. They are certainly interconnected and interwoven. Same blood paid for both.

Oh boy ... this is bordering on heretical and plain stubborn then .... you want to use the words differently because it fits your theology, Elder. If you know it's the same word in the NT ... and Jesus and the Apostles used the same word ....why are you trying to apply two different words and concepts to the OT concepts? ....

Now, you guys are out of my league, I am just a simple southern hick preaching Acts 2:38, but.......

Someone talked about forgiveness in the OT thru sacrifice, it has always been my belief that sins were never forgiven in the OT, just rolled forward to the next sacrifice.
