Good afternoon,
I came across your post as I was looking up some information. I used to attend Brother George's church from age 2-25 and I would like to respond to something you posted
From the outside looking in Im sure our ways did seem strange. Brother George was not a confused man but he was very proper and old fashioned. His one true love was for God and his life was spent serving Him. He was all about Holiness.
The "commune" you speak of we referred to as the camp ground. Brother George's ministry was established to be a missionary ministry, spreading the gospel around the world. The camp ground was set up for church members that wished to be missionaries. This camp ground gave them a place to live when they returned from their missionary trips. They were not required to pay anything except the tax bill received for their lot and whatever payment may have been due on the mobile home they placed there. No further rent was collected. Brother George did not require any of the people to turn over their earnings and he personally did not take offerings.

Many weird tales have come forth, a girl that I graduated with married his son.
Her father was extremely knowledgeable about scripture, but still one of the most confused men I have ever met.
One of the stories goes that whoever lived there was permitted to work outside the "commune", but their paycheck had to be turned over to leadership. They were then issued currency that was good only on the commune. Is this true? I don't know, but it is a predominant rumor.
