UPCI General Conference At
Keil Autorium In St Louis Missouri

I was there for the FIRST March Thru Downtown

BUT

I Will Relate Another Goodun
By Bro Gordon Jackson !

I arrived to the conferenge alone
after closing a revival with Bishop Jess Johnson
and had obtained Hotel Room with 2 double beds -
Bro Coy Hill arrived late the next day and bunked
with me that night.

The next night, I finally finished fellowshipping after
the service
and when I got to my Hotel Room
Not Only Did I Find Bro Coy Hill & His Wife
In His Bed
I Found Bro Larry Hill & His Wife
In My Bed !

I Turned On The Lights
And
They Both Informed Me,
{being good Apostolic Preachers they were}
That They Had Pesonally Called Room Service
and Got A Couple Of Sheets & Blankets
And A Pillow For My Pallet On The Floor.

I Protested That This Was My Room,
Reserved By Me
For Me,
Charged To My Credit Card -
But
They Pointed Out
That I Was Not UPC Like They Were
And
They Were Already In Bed Almost Asleep
THEN
They Called For A Vote

YEP

Ya Guessed It
The Results Was 4 Votes For Them To Keep The Beds
And Only 1 Vote For My Cause

I decided to down to the lobby to ponder my case
and
when the door closed,
as I left that room,
I Heard Quick Footsteps
And The Dead Bolt Click
and Right Then I Knew That My Cause Was
HOPELESS -

When I got to the lobby
I saw the 24 Hour Restaurant Was Open
And
There Sat The Rte Rev R GORDON JACKSON As Big As Life !

He Listened as I poured out my sordid tale of woe -
He Laughed And Said No Problem Young Man "
You Can Just Bunk With Me "
You see, His wife had left that aftenoon to stay a couple of days
with their son Tom who lived close by.

There was a Closed Ministers Meeting scheduled for the next morning
and I decided to sleep in.
Bro Gordon Jackson said that he was going to attend that meeting
and he wanted to use my alarm clock,

He would use it and reset the alarm for 2 hours later
so that I wouldn't oversleep -

The Next morning I faintly heard Bro Jackson as he quietly got up
leaving the room
and I quickly returned to my peaceful slumber
on a Good Bed provided By Jackson
Instead of The Floor provided By Those Hills !

Then

The Alarm Went Off
Without Opening My Eyes I Reached Over And Hit It

Instead Of Shutting The Alarm Off
I Heard A HORRIBLE Loud Laughter -

Reaching Over I Hit That Alarm Clock Again
Again More Of That Horrible Laughter -

I Finally Found My Glasses Put Them On -

I Saw
My Alarm Clock On Bro Jackson's Night stand

And

A Huge Set Of Laughing Teeth On My Night Stand
{ Where My Alarm Clock Was Susposed To Be }

And

About 10 Preachers Laughing At Me
Thru The Door That Bro Gordon Jackson Was Holding Open -

Every Time I Thought That I Was Shuting That AlarmC lock
I Was Re-Enacting Those Laughing Teeth !

SO

I Did The Only Christian Thing I Could Do

I Quickly Pulled The Covers Tightly Over My Head
AND
PRAYED FOR THEM ALL
TO QUICKLY GO AWAY !

Little Brothers Girlfriend ? (I’m thoroughly confused on this one, cannot make a connection)

and her Uncle Stan is one of my best friends

The 1st Michigan Camp Meeting On The New B Drive N
UPCI Camp Ground Near Marshall.

A group of us that attended decided to go to Bill Knapps
Restaurant in Jackson after that evening service was over.
Harold had a job and was working for the Pontiac Motors
Assembly Plant .
He just purchased and had proudly driven a Spanking Brand
New Pontiac Executive to the Camp Meeting.
We all jumped into our respective vehicles that were quickly
filled to maximum capacity and raced toward the Bill Knapps
in Jackson.

I was in a Chrysler Imperial {HEMI} on I-94 East Speeding at
approximately XXX MPH when that Spanking Brand New Pontiac
Executive Went By Me
SO
I Did What Any Southern Born & Bred Gentlemsn Would Do
I greatly increased my speed in order to overtake and pass him.

Just as I was closing upon the rear of that Spanking Brand New
Pontiac Executive
Harold
Got His Cuff Link Caught In The Horn Ring Of That Spanking Brand
New Pontiac Executive -

In The Excess Of 110 MPH -

He Veered Left -

Down Thru The Median -

Up And Over The West Bound I-94 Traffic-

Over The Frontage Fence -

And OuT Of Sight Into The Woods !

We Skidded To A Stop On The East Bound Side
and
Ran Full Speed Across That Busy Interstate -

I did not see the Fence
because of the darkness
But
I Really Felt It
When I Knocked It Down and Stan Eastman Ran Across me -

We could not see the car
But
We Could Hear The Engine Screaming With A Wide Open Trottle
Also
We Could Smell The Burning Rubber -

Suddenly
We Came Within View Of That Pontiac
There It Was
Wedged Between Trees
and Sitting On Iop Of Short Bushes
With The Motor Revving And The Rear Tires Spinning Wildly -

I opened the drivers door as Stan opened the passenger door -

There Was Carol
Hitting Harold On His Head
With Her Purse
While Screaming At The Top Of Her Lungs
" Harold, You Idiot, You Have Killed Us All "

There Was Harold
One Hand Tightly Griping The Steering Wheel
{still trying to free the caught cuff link}
And Still Pushing The Gas Pedal To The Floor
{thinking it was the brake pedal}

We Managed to get everyone out of that cat
and after the police report was made
We Made It To Bill Knapps Restaurant
Only To Find It Closed !

The Next Day
2 Wreckers with Drivers
4 Men with Chain Saws
2 Property Owners
1 Michigan State Trooper
1 Insurance Investigator
spent about 5 hours getting that car outta de woods !
About 100 onlookers Cheered as it was winched out -

Minimal Damage
such as
Missing Chrome Side Moldings
Missing Side Rear View Mirrirs
Scratched Paint By The Brush
and
Front End Alignment

I Calmly Explained to Bro Harold Roberts
That
GOD Was Showing Him
WHY
He Should Become An Ultra Conservative

that I sold to the Ohio UPCI Dist Supt
that is currently residing near you -

Later he drove this car to Houston Texas
and attended the Texas Bible/Bridal College -

I frecently found it when I was going thru
some old photos and e-mailed a copy to him
without saying anything -

His e-mail reply was as follows ;
"Ahh , That Sure Does Bring Back Memories -
That Was My First Car " -
I drove that trusty ole car until I was able to
purchase a Brand New One -
