I'm asking because I'm wondering how it can be such, was hoping some would give input, because I might be looking at it wrong.
Our pastor is very much a good man, very sincere. I don't agree with many things he preaches but I wouldn't anywhere. I do need to ask him to see what his rationale is.

They can teach and preach it, but they can't force people to follow it. There's also no requirement on how often it is preached or taught.
IMO they need to do away with the affirmation statement. You can't legislate holiness.

Ummm those in licensed ministry have tv and go to theaters

I've read this several times. And I walk away thinking:
Define, "We".
Define, "our people".
Because, I know guys who will readily affirm awareness that "they" (the officials of the UPCI) indeed do disapprove of "their people" (licenced members) participating in all these things.
Why doesn't the Affirmation Statement read, "I", and, "the Lord's people"?
Might they simply see it as acknowledging the UPCI's admonition? Even if they might personally disagree with portions of the admonition or how they approach a given part of the admonition.
Just thinking out loud.
