I watched both videos and others and really have no idea what it's about, other than driving beats and kids getting into the "rhythm", whatever that is.

Re: Romance Songs to the Lord

I had to laugh my way through this thread. I have heard some of those songs that I like, but most of the modern praise and worship songs are more 'Jesus is my boyfriend' style, and yes, many of them can be down right creepy especially if you are a guy trying to sing them. I am not saying that all of them are wrong, and they may have a place in a Christian's life, but they do not have to be performed from a platform. The Bible is filled with instances where the name of Jesus is specifically mentioned as being exalted or lifted up, therefore, any song that allows for ambiguity should not be used in the midst of the church service.

Re: Romance Songs to the Lord

Amen, Jay. I personally like the congregation involved in every single song. There should be no intermissions for us to get into the flesh and let certain folks entertain us with solos, choirs and specials. Congregational singing of straight up praise and worship music(preferably Red Book) songs are unmatched to fire up the church about the Lord.

Re: Romance Songs to the Lord

I am not opposed to choirs, solos, or specials. However, I agree that they should not be entertainment. I have seen more than once God take the service in a new direction during those events. However, the people were involved in worship and praise to the One being magnified in the song. I am convinced that those portions of the service require as much participation as any other. There is no room for slacking off during any portion of the service.

So you are ok with

"Jesus, lover of my soul"?
