I really do hope the UPCI does AWAY with this draconian decision to put pressure on people about TV's to not have them! In other words I hope these bylaws are changed! They are completely ***** to me.

If people make a PERSONAL CHOICE about owning or not owning a TV ...then that is one thing...it is quite another for an organization to try to tell people what to do! I for one do not like sitting around and watching walls! And yes, I read my bible for the people who preach on that.

It becomes COMICAL when you have high ranking officials in the UPC having one also.

Here's a thought, why don't the legalistic ***** try to give people something to live FOR and strive FOR instead of having something always they preach AGAINST?

Sorry, but this kind of idocy in the UPCI really chaps my hide! And I am IN the UPCI! LOL!
The UPCI is already steeped in TV. The naysayers have left or are the lesser voice on the issue than years past.

This is a good example of why manmade rules don't work and why we should let the word of God be enough. Adding to it does not benefit us.

My thoughts EXACTLY!

These people that preach against TV and not the internet are contracdicting themselves as BOTH can be time stealers and the internet has far worse content than TV ever will. Plus you don't need a TV anymore to watch TV, if you have internet on a smartphone or tablet, HULU or netflix will work just fine.

So to those that proudly say they do not have a TV in their home, I would ask if they also have internet. Because if they do, it is hypocrisy to me.

But really, with so many in the UPCI having TV already, I think it is time that rule be taken out of the bylaws.

The high outside got to 109 here today, so we sat inside watching a Cold Case marathon on IonTV. Never really watched this show before.

My wife and I were visiting a UPC pastor friend's church this past Wed night and he came down hard on TV. He preached you can not watch that trash and live for God. Thank God there are still some of us preaching Godliness.

I was raised as a PK in a UPCI home. My parents and sister are still in the UPCI. They preach against TV, yet they watch the same exact shows on the internet....it drives me crazy to hear them talking about shows they watch and they make sure I know they saw it on the internet....like really?!? In my opinion they hold to the NO TV because of tradition.

The other day I was at a family gathering and one of the current UPC members that I have known for years talked about watching wheel of fortune and other shows that you typically only watch on TV. This person has been very judgmental about decisions I have made in my life. To see her all in her holy attire and very UPC ish talking about shows she is enjoying was amusing to me.

They may as well go get them a big screen tv then. Tv programing is wrong on any media.

Too bad so much time is wasted preaching against tv and not spent on preaching the Gospel.

In my experience with the UPC, more messages were on standards than the Gospel, which is against both what Jesus and Paul taught.

More UPC'ers dance and shout over a message condemning tv than they do Jesus loving the lost, dying on the cross and rising from the dead.

So you don't believe that a pastor whould teach the people how to live for God, how to draw close to God and how to please God?

Whoa! Nice blanket! If thats the case, there are ALOT of apostolics, preachers and pastors going to hell. SPORTS are part of TV programing...that alone cooks the goose.
