If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Micah 6:8 KJV
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:2 KJV
I didn't say that unconditional love alone would get us to heaven. You're arguing against something I didn't say. Another straw man. There will be many who reject the love of God for the love of this present world or for the love of sin or for the love of themselves and they will be damned a result. And since salvation only comes by Jesus Christ, and He is the Righteousness of God, when younger Jesus you get His Righteousness, you get His Salvation. We are justified by faith, made right with God by faith. Abraham believed God and it was credited to Him as righteousness. Jesus fulfilled the conditions of God's justice for sin. So all one big package. You get Jesus, you get everything.
God is love. Everything we have is a result of His great love for us.
"Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him." -I John 3:1
So getting to heaven isn't ultimately our greatest need???? Your kidding right? When someone says "greatest" that means ultimate. I'm just putting 2+2 together to get 4.
You stated that unconditional love is our greatest need right? Isn't that so? But that won't get us to heaven? Right? So, your greatest need is something that won't even get you to heaven? That just makes no sense.
Again, I think you used your words way too loosely in your original post... to call what you posted about our "greatest need". It may be something we need, but not our greatest... my greatest need is whatever will keep me out of hell... and that is the righteousness of God....

Are you really this dense?
GOD IS LOVE---AGAPE LOVE---UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
JESUS IS SALVATION---"JEHOVAH IS SALVATION" IS WHAT HE NAME MEANS
I said in the original post that there is only ONE who can love like that = Jesus. The inference is WE NEED THE LOVE THAT ONLY JESUS CAN GIVE!
Now to connect the dots for you---"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes on Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
Did you notice that "LOVE" is connected to "SALVATION" (that's the "should not perish" part)?
I think you don't understand God's grace. Salvation for you is "whatever will keep me out of hell". Biblical salvation in it's purest form is JESUS CHRIST---LORD AND SAVIOR!
Get Jesus and guess what? YES! You get salvation!!!!
*waiting to let it sink in....*
*waiting for another response like "but you said that we need love more than anything and I'm saying I need righteousness more than anything, blah, blah, blah........cause I like to argue for the sake of hearing the sound of my voice..."*

When a newspaper posed the question, "What's Wrong with the World?" G. K. Chesterton reputedly wrote a brief letter in response: "Dear Sirs: I am. Sincerely Yours, G. K. Chesterton." That is the attitude of someone who has grasped the message of Jesus.
DB, that sounded rather caustic to me. I can see where Bro. Robbins was coming from. I had some of the same thoughts that he did, but I did not see much point in asking for clarification.
Further, your understanding of our view of God is incomprehensibly incorrect. Jesus loves us, gives us grace and mercy, provided for our salvation at the cross, and gave Peter the keys to the kingdom so that we could know how to be saved (Acts 2:38). However, there are still commands that He gave that are expected to be followed or else we are none of His. This includes the abstaining from sin, anything that might lead to sin, anything that might be mistaken for sin, and anything that is a hindrance to our walk with God. Some people try to make the plain writings of Scripture so very difficult by saying that they no longer apply to us today. That is what confuses me.

So, nobody's going to make it? Bummer! (Nearly everything you do will be "mistaken" for sin, by someone, somewhere.)

The Bible says to avoid the appearance of evil, and not letting your good be evil spoke of. Staying away from anything that looks sinful is not hard if you are willing to be guided by the principles of Scripture.

Oh. Things that look sinful to you. Gotcha.

Incorrect, but perhaps closer. They would be things that might appear to violate Scriptural principles. And believe me, the world sometimes knows those better than the churches.
