BTW S is already on the platform so with her that isn't the issue.I have known preachers who have sat stagnant in churches even though they held fellowship cards and were never recognized.I have seen it eat them alive.
I disagree regarding ministry training. Every time we go to church (wherever that may be) we are in training for ministry. I believe that God used that with my wife and I prior to leaving there in FL. I have no doubt for it was in FPC that we learned how to work the altars and what NOT to do so that someone could receive what they needed.
Coming to LA was for more intensive training which we have received. All in a local church. So, I do disagree with you. That may have been your experience, but it hasn't been ours.
Granted, in the church there, there are a lot of qualified people to fills slots so being used in a position may not happen for a long time. But, being used doesn't require a position, just a willing heart. JMO
Regarding college, I agree.

I do believe that if someone is called to preach, they don't need recognition. That will come in time. They need an outlet to develop what God has instilled in them. That is one of the reasons that we felt led to come to LA. God had an outlet here for us to plug into and develop.

Wise words to those who think the platform is the only place to minister.
In my experience, it is not the epitome of ministry to preach. It is merely a finale in many cases, which then becomes a new beginning for some.

Brother NobodyImportant you are older and see it from your own experience.I have not been made to sit down either as I have always done a ministry in the church but not every pastor is going to use the ministers in the congregation. When you sat on the pew in FL you were not already licensed and had pastored. If I recall you are in a totally different field of labour. The thread topic is Texas Bible College.I have seen it do wonders for young people who are dedicated already. Those who are not dedicated may spoil its reputation for the rest but not every persons the same.

No need to get so testy sister as you seem to be. You made some comments that as I reacll were OFF TOPIC that I addressed and made a personal opinion on them. That is all.
That we disagree should not be a bone of contention for you which it seems to have become. It is merely a disagreement on the subject.
You know me well enough to know that I am willing to voice my personal feelings.
Regarding personal experiences, we all see through that lens and feel about many things in regards to what we have lived.

Sis. T, Maybe yesterday was a difficult day for you for some reason because you also posted a bit defensively with me and it is not in your normal scope of reference for me. You are one of my most favored friends and some days everything I say comes out wrong too.

Love you ande hope you have a better day today.

Blessings, Rhoni

Sorry Sister Rhoni if I offended you.I do think Bible College is good for young people and especially if they allow the women to be taught theology. Its a valid point for me.One of the reasons I never attended JCM was that I got their newsletter and it said that only one percent of the student body had won a soul to Jesus. That was sad to read. One of the main concerns I have though for young people who feel a call to ministry is that they get stuck in a local church where the pastor is only concerned with his ministry and his burden. It does happen.Going to bible college means that they get to travel and sing and preach and encourage people and fullfill the call of God and end up licensed if they desire to be part of a ministerial org.Years went by and I was still holding my license application though filling the pulpit and holding services for my pastor. He then felt a different call to a differert area and the new pastor coming in did ask me to preach. He then gave my teen Sunday school to his son.We left to attend TBC but found out we had a baby on the way and financially could not do so.During this time we were blessed to attend Pastor Kilgores work.I was ten years in the ministry before I was licensed with the UPC.I did however preach and do other ministries in the church including travel and holding revivals.I have always been faithful to God and the church and been a help to my pastor. It took me all of five minutes for the license decision to be made by the brethern as I had preached in some of their churches. It just goes back to the fact that sometimes people want you to help them but they don't want to help you.
They feel by helping you that you might go on to other works and there goes the little yellow envelope(I was actually brought into the office and told that because I paid a substantial amount of tithes and the work was home missions that it would be best I not be licensed as then I would pay the majority of my tithes to the district and it would hurt the local church) and there goes the person who brings three cars of people to church.Yes that is right my husband and I brought three car loads of people to church(We were told that we were not to befriend any of the church people lest any of them felt to help us
which when we held services we chose the same service night as not to cause conflict
and refused tranfers even those with a letter so as to not cause disunity) before we began a home missions work.If we had been able to afford bible college it would have made a huge difference in our ministries. You don't need a license to preach but sorry the hospitals are looking for it and the other denominations are looking at whether or not you have a degree.I really think that more ought to be given to some of the local pastors who faithfully serve and not just the missionaries who do.Each of them ought to be offered the chance to get a free bible college education if they are in full time ministry. After all they the ones tithing to their districts no matter what the org.lv sis.c

I would like to see all Bible Colleges offer night classes and remote location classes for those who have to work full time.

I think it would be great for Sunday School teachers and others that are hungry for the Word to have a chance to learn.
