"If Newt would have known he would have captured the top GOP spot for President, he would have lived his life over to correct personal failure."
My response: "I am thankful that Gov. Rick Perry, not knowing that one day he would run for President, doesn't have to live his life over to correct personal failure. He has lived a life that has prepared him for the run."
And since they're willing to accept that he's simply made 30 years of "mistakes" which he has now apologized for, I think we need to point out that making 30 years of mistakes shows extremely bad judgment. (Not exactly a quality we want in our Commander-in-Chief.)
Newts mistakes have been with women. bad marriages, bad decisions while married.
Thomas Jefferson
Franklin D. Roosevelt
John F. Kennedy
Ronald Reagan
William Jefferson Blythe Clinton
are just a few Presidents who both made poor moral choices in the area of their marriages yet each proved to be adept presidents.
I weary of demanding pristine personal records from republicans only while democrats and have sex with anything other than a live boy or a dead girl and get away with it.

I certainly agree with this! And as I've stated before, Newt's past infidelities are not my main issue with him.
Yet, when they have that in their closet along with flip-flopping policy issues (supporting a healthcare mandate, saying he was advising Freddie and Fannie as an historian - lol, gov't imposed ethanol, Global Warming, Scozzafava, etc.) it's a little hard to trust and overlook it all. Bad judgment with private and policy issues.

When a certain group portrays itself to be the party of family values and traditional morality, while the other party does not-- of course the Party that advances those positions is going to be held to a higher standard.
As Cain Drops Out, Pro-adultery Voters Shift to Gingrich
CONCORD, NH (The Borowitz Report) – Herman Cain withdrew from the Republican presidential race today, a move that resulted in millions of pro-adultery voters shifting their support to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
The shift in support is significant because pro-adultery voters represent the single largest voting bloc in the Republican Party, experts say.
Tracy Klugian, a prominent adulterer from Concord, New Hampshire, said he was sorry to see Mr. Cain leave the race “because he was very committed to the one issue I care about: namely, adultery.”
But he added that he had been in touch with many other adulterers in the state and that they were all switching to Mr. Gingrich.
“Even when we were supporting Cain, a lot of us were supporting Gingrich behind his back,” the adulterer said. “I guess that’s how we do.”
ROFL... A radio talk show host? Get real. He's generating smack to improve his ratings.
Now... watch this... if Newt gets the nomination... Rush will change his tune and support Gingrich beautifully.
Rush is playing a game where Rush reaps the benefits of criticizing a candidate.
Who is Rush supporting this round?

Great attempt to deflect away from Newt's comments to the Conservative crowd that "we need to offer new ideas and that the era of Reagan is over". Regardless of whether Rush pointed it out or not, Fox picked it up seeing it was an astonishing comment for Newt to make.
More to the point, Reaganism is simply conservatism. Newt has a way of saying really off the wall stuff and then trying to come back and clean it up. We understand that we aren't going back to revive old policies, but we do understand that the Reagan era stood for patriotism and conservatism. For him to say it's dead was a bad choice of words. That's Newt for you.
