Had we been able to finance the house on an actual mortgage the payments would have been very low and the van would be paid off by now. But this way we get out under it faster and should things go south before we finish paying off the van note they can come take my van... but they can't come and take my house.

It is tempting sometimes to take a loan against the house and pay off everything. That would lower our monthly expenses tremendously. But I am very determined to keep a lien off of this house. I have a house and 3 acres free and clear and I don't want to ever ruin that.
Yes, there is a certain amount of security in that. I waffle between paying off the mortgage and using the money to create cash flow with good debt. I basically don't want to put all my eggs in one basket any which way.

A stick house is one with built with 2x4's, brick and mortar, etc, as opposed to a mobile home such as a motorhome, mobile trailer, etc.

Different from a brick house, or just the same thing, different terminology?

A stick built house CAN be a brick house and it CAN be a wood frame house. The term just refers to the fact that it isn't a mobile or manufactured home but a home built on site with standard construction materials.

My house is not a brick home. It is a wood frame home.

Here are a few pics of the old homestead.

This is the house from the North

This is the south side. We are tilling the garden here. My, my, my so much has changed. I now have goat pens, a chicken coop etc in the open area on the other side of the garden.

Here is our chicken coop.

The property just a few weeks after we bought in after a big snow in 2008.

Back Yard & Back Pasture.

Okay... I gotta quit. Can you tell I love my place? Still weekly I will be driving down the road home and say "I love living here". God is good.

My dream house is my motorhome - driving all over this great country of ours! Where I can change the scenery at will.

Yes ma'am. And about 1/2 of my land is wooded so only 1/2 is cleared. It's one of those blessings that is so amazing you don't have to remind yourself to be thankful. I am thankful daily for this place.
