Re: Full Body Scanning at Airports
As a former flight attendant of 5 airlines (yes 5) I have no problem with the full body scan at all. Most pepople fly at maximum 2 legs for there entire trip however its the airline personel who gets to fly up to 5 and sometimes even 6 legs a day working 14 hour days. Everyone has a family that they want to go home to and if full body scan will make airline personel jobs just a little bit easier then so be it.
I mention airline personel because the odds are against us more than your average joe passenger who might only fly 2 or 3 times out of a whole year at most. People tend to remember all the wonderful passengers who were onboard those UNITED and AMERICAN flights, but what about your trained airline personel (i.e. pilots and flight attendants) who died as well. Had we had something such as a full body scan (coupled with all these other security measures that we have added since 9/11) perhaps 9/11 would not have happened at all (just perhaps).
Its a variety of things that come into play. Flying is not a RIGHT! Its a privilage. There is no law that states "you have a right to fly on a plane" however its a privilage that is extended to those that want to get from point a to point b faster then traveling by ground.
Do you know how many times I had to brief an emergency exit row and someone made a joke about a bomb? That never made it into the news but I've had my share of crazy people thrown off of flights just for saying the wrong thing.
Ok, I'm finished "semi" venting, but I just personally feel whatever is going to save lives, then DO IT! If you dont want a full body scan then drive, take a plan, bus or a transatlantic boat overseas and let everyone else LIVE without wondering if "this could be the last flight they take because of lackadaisical security measures".
