Even though I don't use my real name, I post as if I were using it, because God sees what I write, he knows exactly who I am. I'll give an account to him for what I write. I was just this morning praying about this, asking God to check my spirit if my writing gets out of line. There are real, live people reading what I write. If I harm them, I will give an account for that. I take message boards as seriously as I do discussions that take place 'in real life'.
Mostly because no one cares! Even when I was still UPC, I wasn't at all involved in church, and my Pastor was always fully aware of all my heretic leanings.
Now I am not affiliated with any church, so it really doesn't matter. Though if ultra-cons knew where I lived, you think they'd do drive-by's with Super Soakers filled with Olive Oil and try to "annoint" my house??

My own integrity holds me accountable. Sometimes anonymity allows for greater honesty, not less. I've seen more people grandstanding on these forums under their real identities than not. I'm sure that's due, in no small part, to their cognizance of who's watching and reading.
I actually thought about using a fake name for the coming year, but I kinda like using my real name.
I am much more cognizant of what I say or don't say-- not in a way of being dishonest, but definitely more careful.
