Housework was a woman's job, but one evening, Jennie arrived home from work to find the children bathed, one load of laundry in the washer and another in the dryer Dinner was on the stove, and the table set. She was astonished!
It turns out that Ralph had read an article that said, 'Wives who work full-time and had to do their own housework were too tired to have sex'.
The night went very well. The next day, Jennie told her Red Hat friends all about it. 'We had a great dinner. Ralph even cleaned up the kitchen He helped the kids do their homework, folded all the laundry and put it away.. I really enjoyed the evening..'
So, if I condemn the jokes and the author and the poster, will you "like" us?
Well, you'd have to root for the 49ers, Giants, and Warriors, and you'd have to agree that Barry Bonds is the greatest baseball player ever, but yeah, maybe so! But I suspect you don't care if I like you and I obviously have made no attempts to get anyone to like me!
But really, I'd just love for you to answer these questions that you won't touch with a ten-foot pole:
By the way, I'm gonna try my best to remember to read the Pelosi and Tiger stuff to some people and get their reaction. I won't bias it. But again, I might forget. I've had people tell me I get way too worked up about all this but the truth is, as soon as I log out, I forget all about it. But I'm gonna try my best.
But you're still not answering my question. Don't you think Christ-Followers should be better than that? Can you imagine the disciples standing around the woman caught in adultery and telling jokes about her? Do you see any similarity between that woman, and Tiger/Ted/Whoever? Do you think it would have been appropriate for Jesus and the disciples to tell jokes about her?
Hmmmm......let's see.....the disciples were human beings prone to all the things "we" are. Did they laugh? You bet! Did they laugh at things they probably shouldn't have laughed at? I think so! Did they make judgements that were wrong? Absolutely, as well. Was Jesus merciful to them in their humanity? Absolutely! Probably, more than likely, based upon what we read in the scripture, they were more judgmental in a hard way than humorous.
I know for a fact that they were NOT super spiritual people who lost their humanity in favor of Divinity when they responded to Jesus' call. Probably a lot like most of us.

Ok, you almost got there but not quite. Of course I'm aware of their fallibleness. But that's not what I'm asking. I'm asking, pointedly, would they have stood over the woman caught in adultery, and laughed? Would Jesus have done that? And if the disciples had laughed at her, what would Jesus' reaction have been?
No one's asking anyone to be "super-spiritual" here. I'm sure as heck not super-spiritual and I'm not looking for anyone else to be. I'm talking about common, human decency. I don't see how having compassion on someone who has fallen in their sin has anything to do with being "super-spiritual".

MOW, whether you condemn the jokes, or are offended by them, or if you like them and repeat them, I will still like you. My respect for you goes way beyond silly jokes (whether they are "distasteful to some or not).
