As a child in the Catholic Church, I thought that Jesus and God were two separate people. When I moved out of the house and into my first apartment at 18 years of age, I lay on my bed one night and talked to Jesus, because I was afraid of God. LOL! I said, "I hope you don't mind me talking to you like a regular person, because I need someone to talk to." I was afraid I was going to be in trouble for not saying my Hail Mary's and Our Father! LOL!

I believe Romans when it says - Romans 8:9 "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."

I believe you cannot be saved without His Spirit dwelling in you. I don't care who you are or what you believe. It's in the Word of God.

One thing I don't do is view people and their experiences or my experiences and then make that fit into my theology or belief system. I take the Word for what it commands regardless of how I feel about a person. The Bible says they must be filled or they are none of His.
First of all who are we to say that those he has filled with his spirit are not saved? Just expanding outside the UPC to the rest of the Pentecostal/Charismatic world, forget the rest of Christendom for a minute. Are those spirit filled believers in the A of G, Foursquare, etc. saved? You have your bent on theology and that's fine, but we better be pretty careful about who we toss out of the kingdom.

I stopped reading right here, Baron. What I see people doing is trying to fit a person's personality that they view in a favorable light or experiences where they can't fathom it going any other way but favorable and then they try to make the Bible fit into that mold.

It doesn't work.

This is what the Word says - Romans 8:9 "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."

That's pretty much a period to me.

Then you need to finish reading. I am not putting anyone's personality in a favorable light. You obviously hold the position that to have the Spirit = a Pentecostal experience, so that was my question.

Okay, I'll read the rest.

If they are Spirit filled then yes, but I believe they would also have to have been baptized. It's the Word. My husband grew up in the COG. He said that they taught that you need to repent and that you were saved. You didn't have to be baptized nor spirit filled. That's false doctrine, IMO.

God brought him out!

But let's be clear, what you are saying is, "God you don't know what you are doing." He is the one that gives the Spirit. So he fills them with the HG then because they don't buy into a 20th Century philosophy on Scripture they are lost. How many Spirit filled Christians have been baptized in Jesus name? not too many overall. God must be a pretty poor Father to lose so many children.

NO! I think that the Spirit leads us into ALL truth. Following is another story. His Word says, "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." Matthew 5:6

Goodness I was lost as lost could be - dying and undone! If He could open my eyes, He can do that with anyone. I'm not speaking for anyone else or judging their experience, but I wanted God more than I wanted life! He worked a plan for my life and led me to where I am today. I cannot deny that it was God.

Again, I go by what His Word says and not what people are doing in other churches.

Aren't you sick of talking to me today - yet?!!! LOL!

Not until I finish helping Him lead you into all truth.

I believe this is the biggest mistake the UPC ever made, claiming all truth. Do you have all truth?

I am referencing this passage. lol

John 16:13 "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come."

He says He will and I believe it. If I humble myself before him and sincerely follow Him, I will die with all the truth He has given me to make it to Heaven. That is what I believe.
