Newman, I do understand what you are saying and your concerns, but given pretty widespread history, it just isn't much of a stretch to think racist undertones when using a monkey. I can appreciate that you have never heard that comparison, but it is pretty widespread. It is just as common as using a pig to depict a cop, if not even more so. On second thought, it is probably done much more.
IF comparing black people to monkeys is as common as using a pig to depict a cop; then I can understand the outrage. But it is very hard to accept as racism when one doesn't see it themselves.
Which reminds me of my initial exasperation that black Americans were upset by the confederate flag...UNTIL I got educated. I was at a seminar out of state, waiting to cross a street.
A pick up truck with a large confederate flag flying from the back, stopped to allow me to cross the street and the driver shouted out that he did so because I was white!!!!!
Wow. I was outraged and have never felt the same about confederate flags. I can't begin to imagine what it would feel like for someone else.
I understand. I was a bit sheltered growing up. I have heard after being an adult, but because it was never a part of my thinking I don't immediately associated it.
I remember during the campaign where some were carrying around Curious George and I didn't realize it was the monkey they were referring to, but thought it was something to do with curious - maybe I'm just slow.
So I understand your name is Renda. Nice to meet you....sort of.

I never felt Mercy was calling me a liar - they were just trying to wrap their brain around what I was saying. I hope I explained it better later.
I heard a derogatory term for Mexicans used a couple years ago that I had NEVER heard used before. Not sure that automatically makes me "simple" or not - I just hadn't heard it.
I felt that you and I were clear. That is why I was trying to ask that other person if she was clear. I see the conversation ran a muck but I dont care. As long as you understand "our" conversation.
As far as the comments, I think they are funny. And as a "Christian" that this form is made up of I supposed I should be reading an apology to me since I was indirectly called a liar (when asked about my truthfulness) and also implying I was trying to call you one.
Its only fair, eh?

No, I was just being facetious by returning your own question to you.
All's fair in love and war. This is neither, so nothing is fair. Capiche?
That Other Person. Hmmm. My "name" is MissBrattified.
