Ephesians 2:4But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.
Acts 2
36"Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."

37When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"

38Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call."

40With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." 41Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
The Fellowship of the Believers
42They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Are any of you debating on this thread actually licensed by the UPCI?

Re: UPCI GB Meeting - what would you want to tell

btw...I like the Context of what you quote...let's read on...

One in Christ
11Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)— 12remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

14For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, 16and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. 17He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

19Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

I think we are talking about labels here ... that usually are descriptive names.

Names often are descriptions. (So much for screwy logic)/

Emergent church, Terrence (?) is already used up ... let's find a better term ... I'll even accept "relevant" ... Holy Magic Hair is already coined too.

You gotta love the creative opportunity our labels afford us.
haughty post... where?
??

I'm surprised that you of all people missed the humor, or the attempt thereat.

It's not even that big a deal.
(Maybe you missed the SMILEY'S??)

Lighten up a bit, sir.
Carry on.

It is all about an identity. I know. If we do this we will become like every other Christian group out there and we would lose our perceived importance.

Randy, I love the Acts 2:38 message but not at the expense of my salvation. I was a desperate human being but I followed the UPC doctrine to the letter and it got me nowhere. Not until I fell at Christ feet and gave him my all did things change. I am now alive in Christ because of him and not anything that i have done. The Oneness movement in many churches is fighting against Ephesians 2. It is all about what WE do to OBTAIN or APPLY salvation to our lives.

Oh, I get it now. You are still thinking that one-steppers or Baptist or whoever are somehow less holy than three-steppers. You think that we don't believe in good works.

You are worried that we are greasy-gracers and just want to sin and that is why we leave. Is this what you are saying? Because the Mormons are way holier than most UPC folks and they don't have Jesus.

great question.

I am...but I don't want to discuss this nonsense.

I find it a bit goofy and presumptuous that people who are not members of the UPCI would take the time to construct this. Maybe the UPCI should feel flattered that so many...who are not members...are so concerned with thier well being.

If you want to join...come on in...you know the rules. If not....why not leave us alone?
