Technically, the bacteria develops a resistance to an overused antibiotic. This happens when you go to the Dr and get a Rx and then you feel better after you take it a few days. So you stop taking it. Well, not all the bacteria are dead. The only ones left alive are the ones that were more resistant to the drug you were taking. Now, they can multiply. This is how we have staph that is resistant to a whole class of drugs.
St John's Wort does interact with a lot of drugs. It's very important to tell your healthcare provider about everything you are taking.
Dansamy,
Very good advice. Fish Oil - Omega 3 is a great alternative and doesn't seem to interact with anything but always check with your Physician if you are taking any other medications.
Sounds like you are a nurse or Med tech?
Blessings, Rhoni

I am an RN. While my unit does take care of adults as well, I primarily focus on children's and women's services. Pediatrics is my "home" unit (where we also get all the Gyn surgeries) and I frequently "float" to Well Baby Nursery and Post-Partum.
(And, for any doubters, I'll be happy to prove my licensure from the state board.)

Well, we did have a rather long thread demanding proof of another's credentials. Which I understand and would have no problem doing.
Well, It is obvious some of us know what we are talking about so our credentials go unquestioned. It is those who speak about things they are clueless about that triggers the doubt, and then we need proof, and even then...we question whether they had a learning disability or they have quack licensure
Some of us are born intelligent and some of us have to go to college
And some of us do both. Honestly, the exam for RN licensure was such a joke. But, my state requires that you graduate from an accredited school of nursing before being allowed to sit for the exam.

I have 2-4 hour computerized exams to take in September and one is a doosie. I can - not study and do 80-85% but to get 90-100% I have to study. I am so licensed even i get on my nerves.

You know, I thought the same thing, but thought it was because I'm so smart......
Really though, I answered the first 25 questions and was like, did I go to school for this? It was stuff I already knew! No brainers!
But after I answered question 79, I got kinda nervous, because for most, it cuts off after 75!!
I had to answer about 120. But I passed!
Wish I could find out my scores and the itemization of individual areas.
