I then began to look at those that held position at church and began to realize how foolish my thinking is. The bottum line is modesty and we must make a clear evaluation of what that is.

One gentlemen had on some stone washed jeans so tight I said a quiet prayer for his nether region. OUCH! His shirt sleeves were tight as to show tattoos of wizards, past relationships, etc. etc.

Another, in the middle of a casual setting, sported his expensive high fashion dress shoes, very gaudy and decrative. Name brand shirt and slacks very evident.

Then we look at the female examples of modesty. We had two or three playing ball in the yard with very revealing form fitting t-shirts. We had some young teenagers with skirts climbing monkey bars, sliding down slides, etc.

The most appalling of the evening was the youth pastors wife. Her clothes could not have been any tighter. Form fitting jean skirt barely covered the knees. My wife told me later that evening she helped her get some things in the kitchen and when she bent over her shirt crawled up her back halfway. I don't know if there were any men present at the time or not.

Then I think of how there is a no shorts rule on the men for our softball team. I think of the guilt that consumes me when I wish to wear shorts to mow the yard. How I feel the necessity to remain secretive in sending my 3yr old to school in shorts for outside play. Pants in the winter.

Preacher man, don't you think for a second that your so-called dress codes are anymore modest than the things I refrain from. Refrain from not because I believe them but because I want to be used.

I feel a lot of times I am amoungst hipocrites.
Holiness starts with our attitudes,if you go hunting for faults you will be sure to find them.If you find things are not consistant with what your pastor teaches why don't you go to them in private and talk about it ,it may get you further than whining about them on an internet forum!

Sorry Praxeas, I saw your post to AB and thought Oh No, I messed up.

I don't think anyone should dress to reveal sexuality. Whether you are male, female, young, old, married, etc. it isn't Godly and there is no excuse for it.

I think someone is trying to be UGLY to somebody that needs a friend and wants answers. No reason to go and tell someone they are "whining" on an "internet forum" when you are now - WHINING ON THE SAME INTERNET FORUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's more important...not wearing that which "pertaineth to a man" or dressing modestly?
Both are important.

Duh.

Amen!!! Pharisees is the word I am hearing more and more...I am searching for so much more...I am so tired of the depression, the oppression...the RULES that mean nothing...this life is about God...and I want a pure, clean truth relationship with HIM.... and that is what I am doing.....seeking Him, and not to please the pastor or others...but God...only HIS approval! I am steeped in His word, and calling out to me in prayer...He ISSS my everything!

See this is what I mean...and all you do is complain about how you get insulted by someone...honestly you set yourself up for it most of the time with asinine comments like this.

Second of all there is a vast difference between looking feminine or masculine and looking sexual or sensual...You remember Adam and Eve right? God COVERED their nakedness. I have a problem with UCs but I have an equal problem with Libs that have no problem with men and women being carnal and sensual when we are to be practicing spirituality.

you CAN look feminine withOUT looking like you are just a dog in heat inviting every male dog around to come and get it.

Same with men. They can look like men without wearing tight clothing.
