In my educated Opinion the AOG mainline churches have been becoming more Evangelical in their practice. I think the rural churches look more Pentecostal but it is clear in their Bible Colleges and Seminary they are looking more Evangelical.
I think you are right. it is interesing.
Who is the AOG pastor that is here?

I used to think that as well... it even bothered me when our church changed it's name from First United Pentecostal to Capital Community Church.
I've realized since then, that it really doesn't matter what name your church goes by, that's only a legality. What matters is what is taught behind the doors and what the church is doing beyond it's four walls to reach the lost of that city.
I think being "proud" to be UPC is a waste of pride... if you're going to be proud of anything, be proud of Jesus.
Sis....I am more proud of Jesus than you know...and I no longer go to that church, but I feel they wanted to not be directly identified as UPC...that shows something to me...and of course what is taught is the most important part....
My eyes have been opened to a lot of new things about that church that make me so grateful God lead me out of there....
I agree with you there... I guess the point could be made, we aren't really here for the visiting Oneness people, so much as for the community in which we live...
We're also a church that believes strongly in one on one soul winning.. neighbours, co-workers, doctors, cashiers... that sort of thing. So we don't rely on people coming in because of what the church sign says. Seeing as the average joe doesn't know what UPCI believes.
Should you not be identifiable to all as UPC....Commuity infers non denominational

I believe you... you just mentioned that if they were proud to be UPC they should keep that on their name.
I personally wouldn't call anyone down for being proud to belong to an organization... I'd rather be UPC than anything else at this present time... but that said... If they DID change their church name so there wouldn't be a stigma... as long as they still preach the Gospel and reach for the lost, their name doesn't matter that much. That was what I was saying.

We belong to our community. We're there for them. God fills us with the Holy Ghost to empower us to reach the lost...
We're not empowered to be UPC for other UPCers...
We don't hide what we believe, that's for certain.

Well Bless Johnnie, here in Moss Bluff, LA we felt that The Pentecostals of Moss Bluff would be too much of a copy cat to the POA AND arrogant so we decided we would be First Pentecostal Church on our sign and The Moss Bluff Pentecostals in all of our advertising!
Do we pass the litmus test for membership in the ultimately arrogant apostolics, Bro. Andy?
Our neighboring independent church is First Apostolic Church so here is no conflict regarding the sign. I think they avoid the label pentecostal altogether because they don't want any one to confuse them with AOG or UPC. LOL
After reviewing some of the posts in this thread for the first time, I guess all OP churchs should be called
"The evil Anti-Christ/No Cross Church of selfish man made standards"
would that make everyone happy?
ROFL!!!!!!

In fact I think that the insinuation of "hateful" Pentecostals is coming mostly from the fertile imaginations of bitter, backslidden ex Apostolics who are constantly trying to find a way to justify their actions. ~ strait shooter
