Notice that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the Church is what we have been taught. But it looks like to me(as highlighted), that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the revelation(rock) that Peter had(that Jesus was the Christ). We saw the church fall into apostacy in the Dark Ages, but the revelation of who Jesus is has lived on into our day. Nobody can take away the revelation of our Jesus from us, but they can attack the congregation and disperse it.
Mat 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Mat 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Just a little food for thought....Its different, but worthy of mention...

You are correct. It is the revelation that Jesus is the Christ the Son of the living God is the "rock" that the church is built.

Amen and amen! The gates of hell which is the grave did not prevail against Christ because he rose from the dead!

Re: All Trinitarians are Lost!!!!!!!!!!!
Peter preached thruout Acts the revelation of who Christ was(Rock), in doing so he was 'building the church' (built on the foundation) w His God given revelation, just as Jesus said. The grave's gates will not prevail against the church because death lost its sting because of Christ and the prophesied ('hope' of Israel') resurrection of born again disciples from the grave- eternal life.

Thats fine brother, I am asking you to just look at the wording of Jesus here...The main topic was Peters' revelation, not the church. It can also be saying that "the gates of hell shall not prevail against the revelation Peter had", and the church would be built on this premise.
Just try to see exactly what I am implying here, then make your own conclusion. Thanks...

May I suggest you carefully read Marvin M. Arnold's work, titled APOSTOLIC HISTORY OUTLINE for the answer before you call the opinions of others, which differ from your own, as "fruity"!

No, there wasn't a One God Apostolic Pentecostal Church for thousands of years, if ever, prior to 1916.
Yes, I have read Arnold's horrible revisionist history. It's a joke.
Now, did you read anything I posted? Care to respond to my comments regarding the true meaning of Matthew 16:18? Or are you just gonna continue to spout silly stuff without any proof?

Been thinking on this concerning Cornelius. He hadn't received the Holyghost prior to the visitation of Peter, so was unsaved? The next chapter does read whereby he and his house would be saved thru the words of Peter. And vs. 17 of ch. 10 insinuates(ye know) Cornelius was somehow familiar w Christ and His teachings. He was upright in all ways yet hadn't received Gods Spirit...
Some believe that the "ye have heard" vs is because Cornelius was that devout Centurion w much faith w Jesus in Matt. 8:5-9. Could have been.
Just thinking...not arguing anything.

Just my opinion, I don't think he was saved prior to Peter's arrival. I think He was saved as Peter preached. I think that people are saved by faith and that God can instantaneously fill them with His Spirit (regeneration/new birth), but I don't believe there is always (or normally) an outward manifestation as there was in Acts 10. IOW I deny the initial evidence doctrine.
