I wouldn't attend the shower (the celebration of a gay couple adopting) for the same reason I wouldn't attend the wedding, but I'd very likely send a gift to the child, because the child isn't the problem.
To answer DA, yes I would attend a shower for a child of an unwed mother, because the baby isn't the problem. I believe that every child should be celebrated. A baby is something good that can come out of a bad situation.
If the mother threw a party upon finding out she was pregnant - "Hey, everybody, I'm pregnant, come celebrate with me!" - I wouldn't attend
that event. But the
birth of the child - the birth itself should be celebrated. Every new life is worthy of celebration.
