If they thought the songs were childish then they wouldn't waste their breath to cry out against the songs, but alas they hate what those songs stand for and therefore they become cranky and complaining to the point of being humorous.

While these songs might offend those who were raised up in Christiandom us converts really don't understand what the fuss is all about.

I was listening to a praise and worship CD I have in my car yesterday, and I was thinking of this thread. If I wasn't completely exhausted, I would start posting some true worship lyrics to combat all this insanity.

Thanks for admitting God has nothing to do with it.

There may be hope for you yet.
God has a lot to do with it, just look at how you're reacting to the issue.
If this was just about tunes made up by ex- tobacco chewing dolts then you would shine it on. What's happening is that these people stood for something that went against the society they lived in. Even now holiness Christians live in spite of those who run under the radar while they look like the society, they only whisper Christ. Instead of impacting the society around them, the society has absorbed them. Now they look, act, and sing, just like the society.

TL how long had you been Apostolic Pentecostal, were you raised in Pentecost?

My problem with these kinds of songs is that there are people out there who are truly hungry to know God who will walk into a church like the 'bama church and hear something like this. They will be offended and put-off by these lyrics and walk out wondering if GOD is as impossible to please as the people in this church seem to be.

And then they will be lost.

Who was the winner in that situation? Not God

Hey, that's totally cool, why stay anywhere that's not custom tailored to what you want. 31 FLAVORS you have your pick in America. There's a very interesting book out you should look at it's called "Shopping for God"

Why stay at a church that I'd be embarrassed to bring my friends from work or family that is unsaved? I don't think they would appreciate being humiliated about their splits or bobbed hair? Why not be an example to them through living right and let the preacher take care of the rest - not the singers?

No, it must be from all the laughter that I'm doing as I'm answering a post.
Listen who ever you are, I don't take this stuff personally, I am writing other material while I answer posts, and not trying to get anyone flipped out.
If you're offended just say "Evang.Benincasa you're offending me" and I will apologize and move on. Look you're not even using your name; I haven't the foggiest idea who or what you are, so please forgive me if I'm having too much fun. Again, this is not personal so don't take it that way.

Yes, it is ridiculous, and you win a cookie, we are talking about a church singing songs that they like and have fun with. If you don't like what a certain congregation does, then you are more than welcome not to darken their door way ever again. They would probably miss you and wonder why the fuss over their song, but you are free to do as you please. Also the beauty of this country allows all men and women to have freedom to worship as they please. God bless America.

Then use that thought when dealing with those who sing those songs.

Who said they weren't? Let's no make this something it's not, shall we?

It would seem to me that it's you who needs to hold on. No problem on this end.

Everyone has an argument, but not everyone has to fight.
We can argue and do it without problems. We can also be humerous while we are at it. We can shoot from the hip and not hurt each other. If you're being offended then I'm sorry, people do things for different reasons. Just as fast as you say that I come off wrong when people are not seeing it my way 100% then where do you come off having any comment about the "split skirt" song in the first place? That's what I think is so silly, you're making a judgement against those who would sing those songs in their worship?
Doesn't that place you in the position that you claim that I'm putting myself in?

Pick one how? You made a statement and I answered it. You said you would leave a church that would sing such a song and I had fun with that.
What's the problem? You made a judgement and I made a judgement.

Bravo! So while you are in your church on Sunday know that the Brother who started this thread may be singing the Bobbed Hair song in his church.
While you are speaking in tongues in your place of worship, he will speaking in tongues in his place of worship. Everyone will be blessed and no one will have to leave after the singers sit down.

Sleep tight.

I explained to you before so I think you understand this now. I did not say I would walk out of a church service if this type of song was being sung. I explained that what I meant about leaving a church was that I would prefer not to attend and most likely would leave a church where these type of "bobbed hair" and "in-your-face" songs were sung. Some prefer this type of "skin 'em before you get 'em songs" but I don't. That is my preference. You have your preference. I still believe that people who are singing about split skirts are more than likely THINKING about split skirts. If they are singing about Jesus more than likely they are thinking about Jesus rather than split skirts. (Or let's hope they are thinking about Him) Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

You don't offend me, but I believe those songs could offend some sincere person who is entering the church looking for a sanctuary. I don't mean this personally against you either, EB, but you do seem to jump to conclusions about people when you have no idea how they live. The fact that I do not like those type of songs doesn't mean anything about the way I live.

OK, you go sing your songs - or listen to them about bobbed haird women. I will sing mine and listen to them about uplifiting Jesus Christ
. I would feel very uncomfortable inviting a person from work or a relative who is not a church member if I knew that someone was going to sing the bobbed hair women song. The pastor is responsible for teaching and the singers have no place in my opinion even getting into this.

OK, I accept your apology. If I offended you, forgive the ole FRINGE_NUTTER.

Bro. Benincasa you are wrong. I don't hate what those songs stand for. I preach the principle behind them. The songs sounds childish though. If I heard a kids group singing these songs I wouldn't say anything about it. IF these songs were sung by some people wearing "billy bob teeth" at a banquet during the skits I would laugh and most of the rest of the crowd would too. Now if I was preaching at a church and they sang this song during worship service and it offended visitors, I would personally apologize to them for the ignorace of the local church.

OP, if we do not like to use the bobbed haired song as a worship song, that does not make us a liberal. I feel more love in the people trying to convince someone that something is not right than just letting the person go on and sing a song that might run someone away from church and that person be lost for eternity.
