DA should do another site like HMH, that highlights the men that ask to be called "DOCTOR" and assume the role of theololgical expert, and put the real education next to their mugshot. Okay, that sounds a little harsh. But sheesh... include some charismatics too! They are just as guilty! It's dishonest! It's a "form of education but denying the power thereof."
Great idea!
Dan?

I am a firm believer in the Old Paths
Articles on such subjects as "The New Birth," will be accepted, whether they teach that the new birth takes place before baptism in water and Spirit, or that the new birth consists of baptism of water and Spirit. - THE PENTECOSTAL HERALD Dec. 1945
"It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves
I would say that according to the book of Acts, tongues are the necessary evidence that someone has been baptized with the Holy Spirit.
There is a poster on CARM named Forever4truth who defends the initial evidence doctrine better than anyone I've read. He posts on the Pentecostal and Oneness Pentecostal forums over there. You have to join CARM to read the threads.
Why all this talk about CARM? Not impressed with this group at all.
I'll check out the link though. I have some guys from Oral Roberts that I'd like for some of you to read as well, since we are swapping links and all.
There are a few intelligent posters on CARM that I will spend the time to read what they write. Forever4truth is one of those posters.
Who would you like for us to read? Post the link.

No website that I know of. Correspondence offline. Professors of Theology at the school on the subject of the Spirit baptism. Some great stuff. If I can find the links, I'll post.

Granting your position, I don't...but for the sake of argument, the question does not concern solely the book of Acts but rather concerns the Scriptures in toto, church history in toto and perpetual. If tongues being the necessary initial evidence, meaning without which a believer cannot be classified as a Christian, in the book of Acts then the perpetuity of the gift AND the necessity of the gift, meaning without which a believer today cannot be classified as a Christian, has to be established THROUGHOUT the scriptures. However, in the book of Acts the gift does NOT reach the level of necessity or in the scriptures, namely the epistles, at large.
To claim necessity that is what has to be done, and that is what CANNOT be done.
