It would have made worship more tolerable? You couldn't decide to make the music you grew up with tolerable? Do you think that it would have been tolerable for your parents? We should want to worship, not be prompted to have tolerable reasons to worship based upon the type of music.

Is there such a thing as Christian country or Christian blue grass or Christian soul or Christian R&B?

They did a poor job of it? It seems to me, that they and their kids got into the music and worship when I was growing up. I guess I'm not following you.

What about "Southern" gospel? Why is that the only label that stands the acid test among ultra cons?
For the record, I love a lot of "techno". Would a "techno" gospel music style be considered applicable?

Re: ROCK BANDS!!! A growing Trend in the UPC???
In OT times, there were people who's sole purpose was to facilitate worship. King David hired people to create an atmosphere of worship. King David was a musician for hire. He hired people to write music. God expected excellence in worship in the OT. We shouldn't let just any inbred toothless wonder with an out of tune guitar or a piano with keys missing. It's an insult to present those as leaders in worship music.

Myself I like the classic Christian Rock. There may be some modern Christian Rock I would like just have very little time to investigate it. I like Christian rock for around the house or in the car but prefer Charismatic Praise for Church meetings.

I attended a Matt Maddix revival/conference in Muncie, IN (2006), and I played with and sang with Fall Line. The band has since broken up as some of the members are in college or graduated, but they were VERY good. Tight music, tight vocals, casual attire (sometimes), and believe it or not--kids praying, worshiping, receiving the Holy Ghost while there were jeans-clad singers on the platform.
Young people tend to not be distracted by things like "casual attire."

Yep, nothing wrong with it at all. If it is producing good fruit (folks getting the HG), go for it!
BTW, has anyone ever been to LA Youth Camp. Can't get much more "Christian Rock" than that--kids praying, worshipping, getting the HG- Awesome move of God! I was actually taken back by how "wild" it has gotten at first. But when I saw the response of the kids....it has my blessing!
I've seen it work!

Re: ROCK BANDS!!! A growing Trend in the UPC???
I should clarify--I wasn't part of the band--they were leading worship for the conference, and I was on the worship team, and one of the musicians...LOL!!! I'm not rock band material.

LOL! They also didn't have a "different style", and the children worshipped with the same music as their parents because the parents were responsible to train their children to worship.
