One time I told my mom.... You know... I could say "It looks like every time I get a little extra money something goes wrong"... but instead I think I'll say "It looks like the Lord holds it all together until I can afford to get something done about it"
He does supply.... faithfully.

TKS…. The scripture taped to my work computer that I read every morning is James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Everything that I have been blessed with comes from someone I’ve found to be unshakable… never changing… we can’t ask for better security than from our heavenly Father.

Hahahaha, good one, Neck. I never thought of that, but it's entirely plausible, I suppose!

I don't think that should be in order to provide luxuries, though...because having a mother at home is more important in a child's life than having brand new bikes and designer tennis shoes.
Obviously single/divorced mothers have no choice in the matter, and have to pull double or triple duty 100% of the time!

It's the same in our home. I appreciate not having to work and having a husband who values me at home caring for the kids and house.

I feel to give honor to my wife since honor is due her.
She has consistently lived a life free of the common attempts at instant gratification/satisfaction through clothing, cars or elaborate gift giving.
She regularly acknowledges that buying on credit is buying with money we do not have and considers all the factors before using credit cards for any purchase that will not be repaid when the statement is received.
She has never expected or needed special gifts for birthday, anniversary or Christmas.
She presents herself well with clothing that is most often purchased from Goodwill (although in our area, these joints have no stigma at all, becoming an after-market for women with too much money and a sense of social conscience). Most all of the new clothes she buys are items that are not generally seen in public.
She plans and coordinates all our family travel with the benefit of coupons for lodging and food discounts as well as any beneficial pre-purchase of admissions/ticketing opportunities.
Her recent interest in changing our hoe-hum landscaping was enjoined by a willingness to put her own efforts into the preparation, planting and maintenance.
She plans her recurring travel needs to consolodate trip time and gasoline usage.
She is willing to cheerfully give money as she is led of the Spirit to do so.
She's a keeper.

It does take 2 to tango does it not brother.
Kuddos and great honor to the ladies out there that help make our lives simpler... they could just as easily choose to do the opposite.

I manage to support 3 growing teenagers on my salary of $28,000 a year. When I get child support (and currently I am) I almost feel downright rich. *grin* I have a nice home, late model car, no CC debt, and no body is starving… we have decent clothes and we are blessed. I don’t get help from the govt, but do accept the “free/reduced” lunch program at the kid’s school… my daughter was asked at lunch this past week why she was a “free lunch kid?” She wasn’t poor…and the girl stated the reasons why she felt we weren’t….. and she was right… from the outside looking in, most people would never know. We are blessed, but I also think that makes me a great money manager and I take a little bit of pride in that… uhh… am I suppose to? If not, well then God forgive me.

Great post, Lisa. I think I make a penny scream and I do feel really good about that. I mostly stayed home with the kids and when we were in home missions there were, I think, three years we made less than $10,000. I kid you not. We are still paying for that, but are almost done doing so.

So...so far the majority of those polled make between $100 and $150,000/year.
I would be curious to know how many of those have multiple incomes? (Both husband and wife working, or working more than one job.)

Good point.
