Songs that Build Your Faith Up

I very often will privately sing, a verse or two and then the chorous that says,

"Oh come unto me
and I will give you rest
take my yoke upon you
hear me and be blessed
for I am meek and lowly
come, trust my might
come my yoke is easy
and my burden light."
Bro. Strange,

In later years with declining health, my late father would get

to thinking about the goodness and love of God and would

start singing songs like, "I Wouldn't Take Nothing For My Journey

Now" and "I Am Blessed" and you could tell it brought his spirit

up to a new level! I, now find myself singing those old songs, the

words just speak to me. They are more than mere words. Jesus

told His disciples, "The words I speak unto you, they are spirit

and they are life". Remember the old song, "Wonderful Words

Of Life". The old songs contain words that have been lived,

experienced, and found out that they are true words. Thank

God for words of encouragement whether they be in song, or

just spoken by a saint of God at a time when they are SO

desperately needed. Jesus knows just what we need and when.

Blessings,

They are indeed Words of Life that inspire, build and give a blessed assurance of His presence. These old songs are so spiritually romantic involving a heavenly lover, all expressed in a poetic flair that unveils the spiritual refinement of the writer. It is much different than the modern day vulgarity found in the romp, stomp and chant.

Sing them o'er again to me wonderful words of life.... I have a minister friend spending a few days with me after closing out a recent revival. He is also a musician. While discussing the musical vulgarity of today's worship music, he told me that some time back, he refused to play that sort of music in a certain worship service. He polititely declined without being offensive or even letting anyone know why he was declining.

But, it seems that today's generation has become so embused with the musical taste of Ghanghis Kahn that the musical poetic prose of angelic expression is unknown, or unrecognizable to them. Meanwhile, the chant and the romp stomp continues. The blood of Jesus is systematically, though gradually being eliminated...and that, by an infernal design.

Thanks for posting them! They will build our faith if we sing them,

and listen to the words with our heart.

Jesus said, "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me;

My Keeper

(Verse 1)
So many times I felt someone was watching over me, for there was too much
Unexplained.
Like the day we were swimming, I jumped in the swelling river; the current quickly carried me away.
I could feel my heart racing as the grave of muddy water would seal my doom and
And claim another life.
Like a hand from out of nowhere I was lifted toward the sunlight, with just one breath I knew that I'd survive.

(Chorus)
Now I Know my keeper, I call him by his name.
He brought me through much danger and spared me so much pain.
He knew some day I'd see him, he was never far away.
Know I know my keeper, I talk to him each day.

(Bridge)
I faced another river this one oh so vast.
Millions there were helpless, drowning by their past.
Satan vowed that he would claim my sinful soul one day.
But all at once a nail scared hand reached down and I was saved.

The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse

1.
There's a lighthouse on the hillside
That overlooks life's sea
When I'm tossed oh it sends out a light
A light that I might see
And the light that shines in darkness now
Will safely lead me home
If it were not for that lighthouse
My ship would sail no more

Cho.
And I thank God for the lighthouse
I owe my life to Him
For Jesus is the lighthouse
And from the rocks of sin
He has shown a light around me
That I might plainly see
If it were not for the ligthouse
Tell me where would this ship be

2.
Most everybody that lives around us
Say tear that ole lighthouse down
For the big ships don't sail this way anymore
There's no use of it hanging around
Then my mind goes back to that stormy nght
When just in time I saw that light
Was that light from that old lighthouse
That stands up there on the hill
