Re: why do you like church buildings for meetings?
Here's why I said what I said...

There's no record of Peter and the Apostles coming down out of the Upper Room. You're "adding to the Word of God" with that statement.

Exactly. The passage fluently moves from the fire falling, to people hearing, to Peter preaching. There's no pause while the 120 come down from the Upper Room.

There is no 2:13 1/3....just as there's no record of Peter and the 119 coming down from the Upper Room. That's the point.

There's is no porch in the verse, no 1/3, nor any mention of them leaving the Upper Room.

Just as you're adding to it by saying they came down from the Upper Room.

"as evidently they were standing on something, so they could see the crowd and the crowd could hear them...."
I wonder...*gasp* Maybe they were in kind of like a "room" or place that was "up" above the crowd, where they could be seen and heard... Wait a minute! The Upper Room! Why, that would be a perfect place for Peter to preach and for everyone to be able to see and hear him.

Actually, I'm not a carpenter. Unless assembling shelves or entertainment centers bought at IKEA makes one a carpenter. BTW, if you look up portico, another word used is porch. Likewise, if you look up porch, another word is portico.

OK, Let's start all over.

No. I'm not adding to the Word of God. I didn't say, “They came down out of the Upper Room.”
I said, and it is according to common sense, “I believe they would have had to come down out of the Upper Room to preach to that many people.”
Do you see the difference, I didn't say that they did.
We know that 3,000 were saved, besides the 120, there were people there from many of the surrounding nations. So how many people were there? We don't know. But I don't believe that the Upper Room would hold that many people.

You're arguing semantics. It's the same thing.
“They came down out of the Upper Room.”
“I believe they would have had to come down out of the Upper Room to preach to that many people.”
You claim I'm adding to the Word by making a joke and adding a non-existent 1/3 to the end of a verse. That's nonsense. Adding is doing what you did, claiming something would have had to happen which isn't recorded.....not simply putting a 1/3 after a verse.

Right. The Bible says there were 120 in the Upper Room, not 3,000 or more. Many structures then had a porch, portico, balcony, whatever you want to call it which came out from an upper level. It could be this Upper Room had a porch/portico/balcony attached to it, which Peter could have used to preach to the crowd.
But the Bible doesn't say and I don't want to add to it.

What!!!!! That's what we do, we twist scripture to fit into our mind set.

Re: why do you like church buildings for meetings?
From arguing about buildings to arguing about porches???
Mishna: From Gefilte Aff. p44608 It is written 'They were in an upper room'.
Rabbi n'Dawid says 'Rabbi Shimeon proclaimed Messiah from the porch.'
But Rabbi Reniee says 'Rabbi Shimeon came down the stairs to proclaim Messiah.'
Rabbi Esaias says 'Rabbi Shimeon proclaimed from the porch but fell down the stairs when he knew that a future rabbin would be a woman claiming he came down the stairs.'
halachah: When proclaiming Messiah we must not fall down the stairs but must either use the porch, if it is kosher, or come down to the street, if there are no women rabbins. Otherwise we must use the elevator.
gematria: Either Rabbi Shimeon prolaimed Messiah from the porch, or he came downstairs to proclaim Messiah in the street. There are 5 letters in 'porch', and there are 6 letters in 'street'. Rabbi Shimeon was an apostle, one of the five-fold ministry gifts to the qahal from haShem, therefore he preached from the porch. Those on the street were men, because 666 is the number of a man. Stairs are how they brought food up to the upper room, which is the job of women, therefore the street is for men, the porch is for apostles, and the stairs are for the women.

I was joking and yet you found something detailed in argument about porch vs street?
Who is Rabbi Shimeon and where did you get this?

Rabbi Shimeon - Peter (no Greek names allowed in the new AFF Talmud).
I just made it up. Sure looks legit and kosher, tho, don't it?

Re: why do you like church buildings for meetings?
We have church in a building because it rains and snows in Missouri. Very simple.
