I'm driving a 98 Chevy Venture. Hubby drives a 95 Ford Ranger. Both are VERY good on gas...

If I remember correctly, Gas was $1.57 a gallon when I bought the minivan. It has DOUBLED....

I'm just praying the van holds up a while longer so that I don't have to start making payments again.

My daughter is graduating, and wants to go car shopping. I told her to go JOB HUNTING first.. I'd make sure she has transportation to the job. She can save up her money for several months and I know a great place she can get a very reasonably priced economy car. I'll help her out with insurance... but I think she needs the responsibility of learning to manage her own money. If she wants the car... let her work for it. I had to work for my first one.

It costs me well over $100 to fill up the Suburban. I'm not even sure how much, because my credit card always stops at $75 and I usually leave it at that.

Marie came home griping about the price of gas too. She is going to Biloxi, Mississippi tomorrow. She is driving her Toyota Camry so it should not cost her too much but she did pay 3.12.9, I think she said.

I can't believe that I actually stopped and looked at a Prius hybrid car.

I presently drive a 4x4 F-150...but gas prices are pushing that baby to the sacrificial altar.

Thing looks way too much like a computer mouse for me to drive. I would keep expecting a cursor on the raod ahead of me....I'll stick to my tribute.

Supposedly my 2003 Aztek was the same as a Montana, and Venture.

Somewhere they chunked it down to 18 in town and 22 highway- of course I had California Emissions as I bought it in Nevada and turned it in in California.

I miss the tight response and agileness it had. I don't miss the payments.....

For those of you who failed the last economics lesson I offerred.

Here is a simple one. Gasoline levels are at an all time low. This right before we go to the peak use known as summer. I will go on a limb and predict $4 per gallon gas before summer's end at the current rate. The demand will strip the supply.

Mark it down, and I hope I am dead wrong on this one. When heating stocks were low in the Fall, we had bad price spikes on Heating Fuel... this cannot be that different.

Not like that guy in San Francisco- the average at $4/gal- meaning mine will be close to $4.50/gal.

Writing myself a note to have the supply of propane for our back up heater purchased in July or August.. BEFORE the price hike..

Garfield, Re: the oil crisis

A lot of folks can't understand how we came
to have an oil shortage here in our country.
~~~
Well, there's a very simple answer.
~~~
Nobody bothered to check the oil.
~~~
We just didn't know we were getting low.
~~~
The reason for that is purely geographical.
~~~
Our OIL is located in
~~~
ALASKA
~~~
California
~~~
Coastal Florida
~~~
Coastal Louisiana
~~~
Kansas
~~~
Oklahoma
~~~
Pennsylvania
and
Texas
~~~
Our
DIPSTICKS
are located in
Washington, DC!!!
Any Questions???
..... Didn't think So.
