You all were absolutely right - Dan, Baron and others. Some of you had him pegged early on, I was suckered until later in the game.

Wow.

Wow.
I was sort of ambivalent to him. All I remember is thinking of "The Man From Uncle" every time I saw his name.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: I just noticed on google former Dr. -- Mr. Va

I noticed the link was no longer good for a news story on SV from a Bogalusa newspaper. I could not remember what happened so googled. I am working and have not had time to look extensively but here is a link to a "true crime report" site that has stories about preachers gone bad and #5 on this page is SV. This is from 2010 and says he was charged with identity theft. Accused of stealing a two year olds identity to defraud an insurance company, etc.

Am curious to see how the case turned out if anybody can find more recent news stories.
