I'm glad you asked this question, Carp. Sometimes, when some accuse others of bashing, I assume they mean all of us who even have strong opinions or feelings or what have you. It's nice to know that many see a difference between bashing and what you do.....which means maybe they don't see all questioning as bashing...

I think it is obvious that women have prettier ankles and feet than men do. This question is a no-brainer. Unless you plan to wax your calves and ankles every month and apply Aveeno Moisturizer every day, then you have no choice but to wear socks.

I do think it look tacky and like a lady in not truly dressed, thus my wife and daughter don't go out in public without hose on. Neither does my wife go to town with tennis shoes and socks on. Not a sin, just tacky.
Bro. WH,

May I humbly submit to you that women are not considered tacky for not wearing hose anymore? The trends have changed. The customs have changed. *Most* women no longer wear pantyhose, nor are they considered 'unfinished' if they don't. It is a 'normal' part of our culture now to not wear hose.

Now don't get me wrong...many women DO still wear pantyhose (mostly the older generation *hint, hint* ). Even I will wear them for formal occasions. I do not wear them otherwise. I think most women do the same nowadays.

I hope you will take a second look at this stance and see that it's OKAY to be flexible in this area. Trends change, customs change, cultures change. If they didn't, you would still be wearing a hat everywhere you go.

That is 100% the point, sometimes I cause myself to think and reflect. It is nice having an alter-ego sometimes...

True. Sexy heels are a lot less tacky.

My FIL never went anywhere without his hat on. He wore a hat like Bear Bryant, who he happened to be a fan of from the same state.

He had his garden hat, looked more like an Asian thing.

The old time Apostlic response to questioning anything automatically got you a scolding and a lecture about rebellion and witchcraft. I grew up in that era and I now I am afraid the toothpaste can't be put back into the tube...

Me too! I finally learned that the answer to any hard question was, "Have you prayed about it?"... which means that an extremely large percentage of questions never got answered... so I eventually stopped asking and started trying to figure things out myself, which I still do to this day.

For those of you saying, "Well, did you?" regarding praying for answers, how many Christians talk to God (which I'm told is a two-way conversation) yet do not agree with other Christians regarding those things which they each had a direct two-way conversation with God about?

There were certain questions that you dared not even think about, let alone ask out loud.

Oh I can't do that. I preach against men shaving their legs.
