Or are you really connected to some group that acts like that?
Don't know about Pel, but I am.
The last conference I was at, the entire message centered around preaching against.... pink shirts, splits of any length, long side-burns, french manicures, short skirts, christian rock music, curling eyelashes, funky male haircuts, videos.... you get the picture. And the back-slidden state of all who did the above.

I didn't feel the need to go a second night.
Im sorry for you.... was the preaching prophesy or just some dude providing his laundrylist of standards?
(the context here is prophesy)
I dont blame you. I would have likely walked out of the meeting that night.

my friend, I dont know anyone alive in America that thinks things are "status quo"
We are in the middle of a major recession.
We have a president who is doing the opposite of what we know works
The stock market has fallen 25% since Jan. this year.
Unemployment is above 8% for the first time since the early 1980's.
I am at a loss to understand why you think folks think things are fine.
But again, just because things appear to be turning south at this moment doesnt necessarily mean the end is here, or that God is doing it.
Of course the end may very well be here and God may very well be doing it. But our responsibility doesnt change either way. does it?

Well on this one, yes, as a matter of fact. This was a rule in Bible College and was enforced with the oddest kinds of threats and intimidation.
I know of several UPC and Apostolic churches nearby that have this kind of rule and the attending atmosphere of intimidation and control. No offense, but you must not be familiar with the Apostolic Faith movement if this one comes as a surprise.

I think the point some posters above were making is that we're not getting genuine prophecy much any more, we're just getting men prophesying that every one who doesn't believe like them is headed for hell.
Of course, not all Apostolics are like this.... but we have way too many who are, imo. I probably see a lot more of this than many of you, because of the fellowships I've been associated with. Many of the conferences are simply competitions to see who can preach the "hardest".

I'm sure Sis. Alvear knows what I mean.
The whole cause cause célèbre for the founding of the UPC was to get the "liberals" and the "1 Steppers" and all of "the Compromisers" to line up more "correctly" with the views of the loudest, most tempermental and the most controlling faction.
Since this is the reason the org was founded, this has always been the primary thrust of the org's message and activity. "Get this place cleaned up!" If you don't like it, then remember, "Every movement needs to have a bowel movement every now and then" (Leonard Westburg c. 1991).
