I still want to hear what people say with regard to Jeremiah 10. It's obviously prophetic. I have no problem with people sharing the birth of Jesus with their family and friends. But decorated trees, santa clause, ornaments, easter bunnies.....golden calf.......lets keep it about Jesus........nothing but Jesus.

I don't think Jeremiah 10 is referring to a Christmas tree. I do not worship the tree. It is a decoration.

The very date itself falls outside the parameters you have set.
I might write a song called "Backslid and Loving It!" if I believed I were really backslid! I am sure glad I don't have to worry about this stuff anymore! BUt, it was a long road to really understanding I could have a tree and be okay.
I used to celebrate christmas and I don't believe that I was lost back then. I loved God then as I do now.
As for myself... this is not something I do feeling it is necessary for my salvation. This has become my conviction and belief that I love and hold dear and I practice it for that very reason.
I am for you people who dont celebrate Christmas not celebrating Christmas
I am for you poeple who only celebrate Jesus at Christmas celebrating Jesus and nothing else.
I am for those of us who put up trees and lights and give too many presents to each other too.
what ever peels your bannana. Just dont start with the "I have more Jesus than you do because..." business. Its like being proud of your humility.

I think that's fine. I have nothing against personal convictions or conservative beliefs unless a person does it because they feel they have to (or be lost) or if they feel superior to another.

I posted this on a different thread, but wanted to include it here, for those who don't celebrate Christmas because of pagan origins, but celebrate Thanksgiving...
The Wampanoag had their own harvest celebration in which they gave thanks for abundant crops to Kiehtan, the Creator. They believed corn, the most valued crop, was a gift from him. The tribe expressed gratitude to the spirits of the game for the animals they killed for food.
By the time Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday in 1861, other Europeans had settled in America and brought their traditions, some Pagan, with them.
Harvest festivals were celebrated by Europeans. Romans celebrated Cerelia by giving thanks to Ceres, Goddess of Harvest. Celtic and Anglo/Saxon Pagans celebrated Lughnasadh and Mabon, the first and second harvests. The Greeks gave honor to Demeter during the Thesmophoria. The New Englanders’ Pagan ancestors celebrated Harvest Home, the first reaping of crops, in August. There was a silent time for gratitude and reflection, followed by singing and dancing after which a joyous feast was held.
I don't think Jeremiah 10 is referring to a Christmas tree. I do not worship the tree. It is a decoration.
Nor do I.
I believe the pertinent point in that chapter is the instruction to "learn not the way of the heathen"
Also... the point that keeps being made that one does not worship the tree.
To me this misses the point.
It isn't, by the most far flung stretch of the imagination, a position that one worships the tree. That is ludicrous.
When the pagans brought the tree into their home long before Christ was born they didn't worship the tree either. The tree was brought into their homes as a part of their worship and remembrance of their pagan deities.
The issue, to me is that this practice, whose roots is clearly in pagan instruction and not in biblical standing, has been made a part of ones worship of the true and living God.
Of course no one is worshiping the tree... that would be ridiculous to even suggest such.
