Ferd, once again it does not explain that everybody else was able to fulfill their Senate duties to a gradable and acceptable level. And I find it hard to believe that people here would be so understanding and willing to dismiss this if Obama had been the only one who fell into this category.

look, if you dont want to be convinced thats your deal bro. I can respect that. but lets not say that there hasnt been an explination offered. and the standard holds for anyone who is a senator running for president.

in fact if you want to go there, the same standard exists for any Governor.

Governors running for president turn the state over to someone else. That is also a non-issue.

JMHO, but I think to aspire to the highest office in the land be it Canada or US
one has to sell out to get there no matter the party.

We are in the midst of a federal election in Canada & it is obscene the promises they are making to the voters!

Ferd, I do understand that running for President is time consuming, but if you let some tell it, being in the Senate for 4 years amounts to 170 actual working days anyway..
I do not think that missing more than half of the votes as it relates to Foreign policy and the economy is a good thing, and I further hold to the point that if it were indeed Obama who was the only candidate who fell into this category, those on this forum would not be giving him a free pass. It would be correctly pointed out that all the other candidates were able to do it.

However, I guess we will just have to agree to disagree.

Ron, be thankful that they actually respect your vote enough to make promises. In our country, people are basing their votes on some key issues and no specific promises are even being made in those regards.

I think for the most part people vote along partisan lines, be it Canada or the US.

A Republican votes for a Republican, & a Democrat votes for a Democrat.

Sad, but I think that is true.

Stew, I just did some checking on the only thing we can actually compare this to. the 2004 election. John Kerry missed 72.3% of the votes in that congress.

http://projects.washingtonpost.com/c.../vote-missers/

Nobody said a word about John Kerry missing votes. As I said. it is a non-issue.
