I spoke with your husband and son for a few minutes after service, while they were seated with Bro. Jonathan Alvear.
It was good to see them.

I've always found it amusing that conservative OP's can preach against whatever they want and drive Mercedes, 15K Rolex, live in high $$ houses and spend $2500 for a suit and $500.00 for alligator shoes.
How many homeless in Little Rock? Are they feeding the poor out of that 24 Million $ kitchen? How many African Americans go there? Do they give scholarships to the children?
I'm not against a nice building, I am against selective conservatism. Seems a tad bit inconsistent that's all.

what does the bolded line have to do with 'SELECTIVE CONSERVATISM'? What does it matter how many blacks, whites, reds, or yellows go to a church? And that in and of itself has nothing to do with the size or cost of a building and rather that church gives back to the community or not.
Personally I think you protest a bit to loudly.
What would you have thought about Solomon's Temple? To big, to gaudy, to expensive.

It's called the "race card" and usually used in desperation when no other ammo is available.

WE ARE NOT TO BE RACIST THOUGH
So we want to condemn others for the cost of a building, not knowing what else that church gives to and does in a community, and yet ask such a question? One that shows an elitest and racist attitude.
The church should be, was meant to be, and better become the last place race should ever be a factor. If the church would lead the way in this matter maybe our government and the rest of the ignorant world would get a clue too.
Am I naive enough to believe racism has not effected the church? No but it should not and if it is in your church you better be getting rid of it.

I want to respond to what I can remember of your post. Bro. Holmes is the most humblest man I have ever met. He does not dress flashly, refuses to wear a rolex, and would not let others buy him a nice car. He drives his mothers old suv that has been wrecked... soooooo.......
Yes, they have three houses that people in the church have donated, to house the homeless, two for females and one for males. Yes, they feed the poor every week! Those that attend church there and also it is open to the public. There are several African Americans who attend there and have for years.(They actively participate, ushers, the church office, song leaders, musicians, scripture readers) WOW! IMAGINE THAT! They also have a large hispanic presence. And bring in about 100 children from the wrong side of town every sunday and have church with them and feed them!
As to the scholarhips, they've been doing that for years! Supporting upwards of 30 at a time. They also go in the red over 100,000 a year providing christian education for those who can not afford it.

Re: Little Rock Dedication
If if had not been for the Elder Holmes family I could not have went to Christian school. I dearly remember Elder AO Holmes and BRO. Joel Holmes has filled big shoes and left bigger ones for Brother Nathan to fill...
I appreciate the Holmes family.
