This was one of the turning points for me on my journey from trinity into oneness. Yes, we sometimes use the same scriptures to disprove each other. But at the end of the day, you either believe that there is only ONE God or you believe there are three God-type persons, co-equal/co-eternal as the trinity states. Also, trinitarians will always use the reference about Jesus being seated at the right hand of the Father. If this were true, and the Holy Ghost is also a co-equal "person" of the Godhead, then wouldn't He have a throne? To the left of the Father? Noone has ever been able to answer that for me.
The scripture your mentioned is one of the ones that did it for me too. Another one is:

Acts 9:5 (KJV)
5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus...........

That voice from Heaven answered him and said, "I am Jesus". AWESOME!

I hear ya. I didn't "get it" under his ministry, and was already firmly planted in the truth of oneness when he came along, but I loved to hear him preach on it. Here's one I didn't notice until after he came along, though:

Gen 22:8 (KJV)
8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

It's amazing how all the signs were right there, but they just couldn't see them.

I had/have a rich heritage in the Church of God, which didn't allow for an easy conversion from Trinitarian to Oneness. After a couple of brothers, who had demonstrated much patience after a couple of months of bible studies, showed me Acts 20:28 again, a revelation of the truth struck me.

28Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. Acts 20:28 KJV

For me it was different. I had spent a few years in CA, where anything goes, so I wasn't new to hearing different beliefs. I visited a church that was being pastored by James Meng, and we stayed up talking for a couple of hours after service. He kept saying to me, "This area is predominantly trinitarian", and I simply wasn't catching his drift. When I finally asked him what he was talking about, and he explained this church believed Jesus is the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, I thought he was saying they didn't believe in the F,S, & HG. My eyes got real big and I was gonna git out of there faster than it takes Bill Clinton to get an impure thought when a hot little number walks past him! I asked him point blank, "You don't believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost?!?!" When he explained it to me again, I shrugged my shoulders and said, "OK. That's cool." I didn't even realize that I had accepted a piece of truth that was going to completely change my viewpoint on God! My willingness to be open to different beliefs paved the way for God to reveal Himself to me. No one is ever going to be able to take this truth from me.

Whatever, bro.
People have a right to respond to comments they agree with or disagree with. That's what forums are all about.

Just because you don't wish to respond doesn't mean that others shouldn't.

The bible says be angry and sin not. Nobody has insulted the man or said anything improper toward him or about him. But outrageous comments deserve a response. If you dont want to respond, then just dont. But if others choose to respond, then let them do so.

You're so right TRF! Most of your comments are outrageous! I meant "friend" when I first posted it... I meant it when I posted it again... And I still mean it now.

I have come to realize, after this thread, that perhaps I do have somethings going on inside of me that I need to surrender to the Lord and allow Him to touch and heal me. I'm definitely not trying to come here and stir you guys up and then act like I'm innocent, as someone stated, but my initial question was totally sincere. However, it's been a while since I've seen the types of responses that I saw here. It started bringing some feelings up in me that I didn't really even realize were still there. Leaving the UPC was very traumatic. My wife and I were called unbelievable names when we left. The rumor mill cranked up and churches that I once preached in, began spreading so much deceitful garbage about me. It was even said that I was on drugs and hanging out in bars! All total lies, simply because we disagreed with their doctrine and QUIETLY left. But as far as considering them my friends and my brothers and sisters in Christ, I do, regardless of their opinions. The majority of my family is still very involved in UPC.

I pray that you all find deliverance from this organization, because it fulfills the criteria of being deemed a Religious Cult.

Bro. AbundantGrace,

Having the Word to measure with, can sustain us in times such as you
have mentioned.

Jesus said, "Blessed are you, (when ?), when men shall revile (to defame, that is,
rail at, chide, taunt: - cast in teeth, (suffer) reproach, revile, upbraid.) you,
and persecute you, and say all evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice,
and be exceeding glad; for great is your reward in heaven;for so persecuted
they the prophets which were before you".

Matt.5;11,12

Brother, quite possibly you were going through a "Job" trial, a testing. I can
assure you, satan would desire to have you.

If we are ever used of God, we will be tested for quality control. QT is
to see what happens to us under pressure. Will we crack, give up, etc.,
Will our vessel stand the test of being used in His service!

I have gone through fiery trials, BUT the WORD says:

I Peter 4:12-16 NKJV

12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you;

13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

14 If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.

15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters.

16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.

May you be encouraged in the Lord and in the Power of HIS might, in
Jesus Name!

Always measure what is happening by the Word of God! There is safety
and protection in God's Instruction Book! We just have to know what the
instructions are. All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable
for doctrine (teaching), for reproof, for correction, for instruction in right-
eousness, (Why?) that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished
unto all good works.

Blessings,

Falla39
