Of course we ARE talking about the speech of Jesus Christ here... are we to think He was a "Trinitarian" promoter?

ROFL!!! I know. I find myself taking offense at things said in trinny churches only to discover the same verbage reading the bible.

My decades of conditioning worked!

I get aggravated when trinnies start having God the father talk to Jesus the Son and if he's not too busy to also bring the Holy Spirit into the mix but then Jesus speaks quite often of the Father in a seperate sense in the New Testament. More of a seperation that most OP's feel comfortable with.

17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

exactly.

We did something interesting in our Easter drama this year... with Jesus saying “Have I been with you such a long time, and do you not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How do you say, ‘Show us the Father?’

Then He continued... "Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

12Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."

Probably that we were brought up to be so conditioned against Father/Son that we usually try to stay away from these scriptures.

There is a definite distinction in Scripture between Father and Son; you can't get around it. But I do not believe that they are separate mindsets, separate personalities, separate thought patterns like some do. You cannot separate their thinking. I think Jesus was the fleshly manifestation of God Himself. IT'S A MYSTERY!!!!

Quite simply that the "I go unto my Father" scriptures are not exactly candy-stick Oneness scriptures traditionally, especially for those who have taught Jesus IS the Father.
