And yes I agree it is the Holy Ghost that gives you the wisdom and power to operate in that gift, BUT I have heard backsliders that are still able to operate in their gift. For example, a person operating in the gift of knowledge, often still operates with that gift, now whether it is the human spirit, demonic spirit or whatever, I can't say, but only know they claim and have shown they operate in those gifts.

Now take for example Timlan. I never knew him when he was in the church, but I suspect he was used in the gift of prophecy. I saw him prophesy, if you will, about a situation that would happen with some posters here, that came about just like he said it would.

Now he could have just used human reasoning to come up with his acturate outcome???

The other consideration is if a person has operated in the gift for years, does it become a learned behavior, and less relying on the Holy Ghost?
Sister E, Your post supports, what I believe about "backsliders". I don't believe a person loses his salvation, or the Holy Ghost, or their ability to operate in the gifts of the Spirit, when they are not doing what they perceive is right. Often, however, they will suppress the operation, because of condemnation. I believe condemnation is at the root of almost everything which is spiritually adverse.

How trustworthy are 'feelings'?

I am leaning more toward what you are saying, but not sure about how far yet.

Ask the cowboys don't you know their "gut" feeling saved many a life?

I think they are very trustworthy IF you heed them.

Mere opinion. I prefer something more objective.

BTW, how many cowboys got a 'feeling' without anything happening?

I've heard him state many times that he was always skeptical/careful of impressions, dreams, etc. He stated that many times he felt they were caused by pizza!

Actually I loved the 'Chick Bowdrie' series.

I'll stick to Scripture.

Timmy, you continue to amaze me with your insight. Do you intentionally mask it with your writing style, so that you don't come across as a "known-it-all"... like.....uh...say...B/L?
