Do you think there would be a significant loss of revenue of shipments stopped for a day? I know in France hundreds of millions was lost in a short shutdown of transportation workers or something.

Chris, you said right now you are paying a greater % of your income in taxes than a guy making $200K.

I would love to see you explain this.

Excuses...well...the farting thing...I don't blame you. lol

same with solar.

these technologies are still in or near infant stages. their costs are getting less and less. while the power they can generate is getting greater and greater.

Algae is quite exciting. Consider that corn can produce (I think) around 34 gallons of ethanol per acre. with new methods now being studied the estimates for Algae are ranging from 2,000 to 50,000 gallons per acre!

and Algae can be grown in areas that are not currently being used in active agreculture. in fact, it would be better to use unusable land.
Windmills have attracted the attention of the tree hugging don't hurt a bird crowd, and they complain about the windmill farms we already have in place.

Solar power could be a viable option, but I just don't see it taking off anywhere other than on the West Coast.

Got any link on the algae thing? I'd like to hear more about it.

Why are you against ethanol?

I'm considering the tax shelters available to them that aren't available to me.

I know a man who pays less in taxes than is secretary and he brags about it. Please note...he makes three times her income.

lossess, yes. but those losses get worked back into the economy.

now if the truckers just stopped all together until businesses went out of business.... then you are talking about something.

I am against CORN Ethanol and I am against ALL government subsidies because they ruin market based economies.

Corn produces 34 gallons of ethinol per acre. it takes more than 30 gallons of GAS to produce 1 acre of corn for ethinol... do that math...

Also Ethinol has about 80% of the stored energy per gallon as does petrolium gas..... Corn Ethanol is STUPID.... and it exists for one simple reason. IOWA is the first state to vote in the Presidential primaries, so both parties cater to their stupid ideas.

here is one
http://www.popularmechanics.com/scie...h/4213775.html

google Algae BioFuel..

bottom line, 50% of the biomass of certain Algae strains are oil. (think bio desel), plus the remainder is made of starches that can be produced into ehtanol. ALL of the carbons burned from these sources are from the atomosphere so you really are resting to zero carbon emmisions.

PLUS Algae has a byproduct of oxygen and hydrogen (you can use algae to produce hydrogen for that fuel source too)

I'll have to talk to Jeff to have him explain it to me again to get the skinny on his specific situation because it's a neat example. I just shook my head when he originally explained it to me.

Remember, the burden of taxation isn't felt so much with % paid...it's felt when % paid is compared to overall cost of living at poverty level. For example taxing a person making over $200,000 a year at 19% will not put him in the gutter if he manages his money well. However, tax a working family man who makes roughly $39,000 a year at 19% and dude....he's hurtin'.
