I think that he was so surprised and shocked that he dealt with this on an emotional level, rather than a pastoral level.

What was the "solid evidence"? I can't imagine any of this "evidence" being admissible in a court of law and yet he chose to proclaim it publically -to which the lady in question denied it.
Honestly, I only read some articles detailing this story a year or so back and can't remember everything now. I do remember it being a classic "good old boys circling the wagons" story though.

No, I don't fault them. We had our reasons for leaving a church, but I wouldn't consider it dumb, but I also don't want to elaborate on the issue, because it wouldn't be edifying to our former pastor.
There was nothing that was inherently sinful about this play, it was very beautiful, and as I posted it won many many people to the Lord. I guess we could have crucified Jesus in a robe, and had none of the women wear make-up (which as I said it was not ALL of the women in the play).
Would you consider it sinful that the woman who played Herodias, and the woman who played Pilate's wife also wore rings and bracelets?

I could answer your question, but then it wouldn't be related to the topic, nor would it be edifying. ;-}

Re: Dumb Reasons People Leave a Church
Some times we do such "silly" things.
Our ALJC church had an Easter play one year.
A hairdresser in the church created/glued beards on the men who took part in the play but our pastor at a later time said the Bible teaches that a man is supposed to be clean shaven (but he had been known on a couple of occasion to have a visiting singer and a visiting Bishop with facial hair on his platform).
The person who played Jesus wore a woman's shoulder length blonde wig but a song leader was later set down when he started wearing a hairpiece.
Jesus was supposed to talk in KJV type English but the rest of the people spoke regular 20th century American English.

This is one of the dumber statements I've seen on here. I actually know some very strict churches who let certain members get by with things when others can't, and it all boils down to money. So don't just pin it on liberal churches; unfortunately it happens many places.
